Storage Tips - 7

By Brendon Benson (1) Label all boxes. Take home a list of labelled boxes for easy reference when you need to locate your goods. (2) Use box numbers as codes, and write them on sides of boxes for essy viewing. Keep list at home for security purposes.
Leave refrigerator and freezer doors ajar for ventiation and ensure they are fully defrosted. Place couches on end to end to save space. Please note: Do not place directly on cement floor, place on pallet or similar. (3) Put heavy or bulky items into the unit first to provide a good stacking base. Fill containers to capacity. Partially full or bulging cartons may tip or collapse.
Battery operated appliances/toys: Be sure to remove batteries to avoid acid leakage damage. Television sets, Videos, Stereos, and Computers should be packed in boxes or wrapped in bubble wrap. (4)Mirrors and paintings should be protected with bubble wrap and stored standing on edge, not flat Protect your fragile goods with packing. (ie: bubble wrap) and place them at the top of your storage space. (5)Stack boxes of similar size to maximize space. Books should be packed flat and not on their spine. (6)Always drain fuel from engines before storing. Where possible disassemble furniture items to save on space.
Heavy items should be packed into small boxes so they are easy to lift. Do not place any heavy items on couches or matresses as they will suffer damage. (7)Use all of the space including height. Place frequently used items near the door. Storage in Pittsburgh

Five Stages of Partnership

By Paul Cutright All partnerships, and all relationships for that matter,
go through five predictable stages. Knowing these stages
is like having a map that will help you to accurately
assess where you are and where you can go. All partnerships, and all relationships for that matter,
go through five predictable stage. Knowing these stages
is like having a map that will help you to accurately
assess where you are in your partnerships, see where you
have been and where you can go. This will also
allow you to deal effectively with the particular
concerns of the stage you are in. For example, upsets,
disagreements, miscommunications and misunderstandings
are a predictable, inevitable and unavoidable part of
the second stage. If you dont know that, you could
easily misinterpret what is going on in the relationship,
make inappropriate choices and miss important learning
and growth opportunities. Each stage requires a different,
yet overlapping set of skills. Mastering partnership is
about mastering these skills. STAGE ONE - ATTRACTION This stage of relationships is characterized by a
fascination with another person, organization
or project and a desire to learn more about them,
as well as a desire to share yourself. Its fun
and it feels good. This is the time when positive
possibilities are sensed and explored. This is
the stage people wish would last forever. ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR SUCCESS IN ATTRACTION: 1. Be interested, not merely interesting. 2. Look for and focus on the best in others. 3. Acknowledge/compliment others on the good you see
in them and their accomplishments. 4. Help people to relax with you - put them at ease. 5. Know what the most important things are for people
to know about you and weave those things into your
conversations so you feel they "get" who you are. 6. To simply "be" with others without an agenda 7. Keep your word to build trust. 8. Be authentic. 9. Look good and smell good! 10. Speech acts to learn and master: Greeting Making requests Declining requests Making promises Making apologies High performance listening AVOID: 1. Lying. 2. Jumping to conclusions. 3. Moving too quickly into a commitment conversation. 4. Expecting people to read your mind and anticipate
your conditions for satisfaction. 5. Stereotyping or categorizing. STAGE TWO - POWER STRUGGLE This is the stage where people start testing each other.
It is one of the most difficult stages for people.
Who is going to get whose way and how? Distrust from
your unresolved past manifests and there is often a
fear of loss of control and heavy judgments of the other
person start to show up. Many relationships never
move beyond this stage and many end here.
This stage is really about building trust. ESSENTIAL SKILLS: 1. Know and identify your feelings. 2. Speak congruently with your emotions. 3. Communicate without blame. 4. Self-reflection - observe your thoughts,
feelings and behaviors without judgment. 5. Own/take responsibility for your mistakes
without self-invalidation 6. Observe your automatic interpretations
of others and events. 7. Be present to someone elses upset without defense. 8. Know and articulate your requirements for trust. 9. Be able to restore trust when broken. 10. Use current upsets to resolve the past. 11. Ask for help. 12. Forgive yourself and others. 13. Make correction without invalidation. 14. Dont control others or make their choices for them. 15. Dont sacrifice - be generous. 16. Practice spiritual attunement to find the highest path. 17. Take the initiative - be responsible for your own needs. 18. Turn your complaints into requests. 19. Be clear-headed and rational while feeling intense
feelings or while in the presence of others intense feelings. 20. Control your temper. AVOID: 1. Giving ultimatums. 2. Blaming others. 3. Gossiping or participating in gossip. 4. Being mean, attacking, hurtful or hypercritical. 5. Saying things youll regret. STAGE THREE - COOPERATION This is the stage where you learn to trust one another
and to resolve upsets to your mutual satisfaction and
benefit. You learn to share power and appreciate each
others unique abilities and gifts. However, it is still self oriented "What can I get out of this relationship?" rather than
"What can we create with this relationship?" Beware of
false cooperation in which one person acquiesces to the
other in order to "keep the peace". This is still
Power Struggle, only in a more subtle form. ESSENTIAL SKILLS: 1. Know and articulate the essence of your desires. 2. Expand your capacity for compassion. 3. Read others emotions. 4. Assess trustworthiness in others and assume
trust rather than suspicion. 5. Inspire high level of trust from others. 6. Care deeply about others. 7. Feel connected with others. 8. Generate enthusiasm. 9. Find and define a common path. 10. Know and articulate how others affect you,
e.g., their losing/winning, problems/thriving. 11. Make choices for long-term gain - overcome
the need for instant gratification. 12. Competency with creation techniques,
e.g., visualization, goal setting, etc. 13. Know and articulate your changing conditions
for satisfaction. 14. Neutralize competition while inspiring cooperation. 15. Ability to articulate higher path, especially
during stress. 16. Be diplomatic and cordial even when worried,
upset and during stress. 17. Facilitate conversations for: Speculation and possibility Planning and design Commitment and action AVOID: 1. Making assumptions. 2. Sacrifice - it always leads to resentment. 3. Withholding important communication out of fear. STAGE FOUR - SYNERGY This is the stage where there is a realization
of a power greater than that of each individual.
There is also a commitment to a specified focus
and use of the power. Extraordinary satisfaction,
intimacy, and a deep sense of mutual trust,
empowerment and ease characterize this stage. It is a highly creative, high performance relationship. It also possesses a high
level of acknowledgment and appreciation. The relationship
emanates joy and power in this stage. ESSENTIAL SKILLS: 1. Regenerate creativity. 2. Balance work and play. 3. Be alert to and neutralize complacency. 4. Fine tune and evolve specific talents. 5. Dance and surrender during the times of chaos
before new beginnings. 6. Let go of ego and attachments. 7. Be as committed to the larger process you
are involved in as you are to your own individual part. 8. Practice letting the relationship "breathe". 9. Anticipate temporary Power Struggle when you
uplevel commitment and prepare for it. AVOID: 1. Taking the relationship and people for granted. 2. Becoming overly intoxicated with the glory of
synergy and get out of balance in your life. 3. Expecting synergy to last without nurturing
the relationship. STAGE FIVE - COMPLETION This is a stage many people fear and avoid dealing
with altogether. There are four ways relationships
can be completed: drifting apart, expulsion/ejection,
conscious completion or death. Sometimes completion
is only about changing the form of the relationship,
not necessarily the end of the relationship altogether. ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
1. Accept and flow with change. 2. Acknowledge and integrate the value and learning from the relationship. 3. Spiritual attunement. 4. Own up to mistakes without self-invalidation. 5. Make apologies. 6. Redefine your common path - change form. 7. Articulate the highest spiritual thought about the
relationship. 8. Know what you need to feel complete. 9. Generate a safe space and a conversation to
make sure everything that needs to be said or
done to feel complete is communicated in a spirit
of love and dignity for all parties concerned. 10. Allow for a healthy expression of fear,
anger, grief or any other emotion. AVOID: 1. Feeling victimized. 2. Taking things too personally. 3. Resisting change. 4. Misperceiving that others are the source of your good or happiness. 2006 Paul and Layne Cutright All rights reserved.

Media Communications Schools

By Michael Bustamante Time to get the word out! Media Communications Schools help students examine communications among global communities, and includes courses in digital media, broadcasting, reporting, writing, interpersonal communications, speech, and rhetoric. Students should be aware that the terms media communications, journalism, and mass communications mean much the same, or very similar, thing. Therefore, course descriptions in school course catalogs may be more reliable than catalog course titles when considering and choosing among the various programs in Media Communications. Media Communications differs from Media Studies in that Media Studies stems from theatre, film, and speech, and stresses the effects of media on populations. Media Studies, as a discipline, relates to cultural viewpoints and the interpretation of communications. Media Communications (or Mass Communications), on the other hand, encompasses concepts and skills of writing, journalism, radio, television, and various types of communications through various media sources. The Internet is used today to convey a great deal of information that both affects and influences huge numbers of people and populations. A major tool of Media Communications, the Internet allows creative skills of individuals to shape, guide, and dispense information. A concern of Media Communications is the development of technical, imaginative, and creative talents as important factors in a good education in the discipline of Media Communications. Media Communications Schools provide curriculums that prepare students for production positions with media and media-related organizations. Degree programs promote the development of skills in written and verbal communication, grammar, journalism, keyboarding, digital editing, electronic publishing, advertising, public relations, photography, and more. Students often get hands-on writing, print and video production experience, and programming experience with college radio stations, in video production laboratories, and in campus cable television studios. Media Communications teaches gathering information from various sources; skills in electronic writing, announcing, producing, programming; audio and video digital editing; electronic production formatting and graphic design; organizational structures of communications institutions; ethics, laws, and governmental regulations that influence media; social influences that shape media; social and ethical issues raised by new technologies; and much more. Media Communications graduates may find positions in newspaper, radio, television, magazine publications, advertising, video production, and public relations. If you would like to learn more about Media Communications Schools, you can find more in-depth information and resources on our website. The Cubicle: Your Home Away From Home?

By Leon Chaddock Is your cubicle your home away from home? For many, everything that they need is there. Of course, you have your phone, your computer and your paperwork. But, you probably have all sorts of other things as well. Photos are throughout the walls. Your hot drink and your cold drinks are there. You will find that many people have their doodle pads within reach as well. But, really, the cubicle is a sad place. You can brighten them up a little. One excellent way to improve employee satisfaction is to provide them with a comfortable place to work, even if that is only a cubicle. But, make them convenient, comfortable and spacious. Sure, you dont have a lot of room but that little extra bit is likely to help your employees to feel more in an office than a box. You can add shelving units, desks and computers to the space, but again, make sure that things are easy to use and within reach. You should allow them to have a place to put notes and pictures of those at home. You can easily do this with a corkboard of sorts or even by using padded cubicles. Why should you bother? Of course you are thinking that this is a waste of money. But, for many businesses, having a comfortable place to work in will allow your employees to work better. Efficiency is quite important in all aspects of business. And, this is no hidden secret that happy employees provide better, more efficient workloads. So, go ahead and splurge here. Are you thinking that you do not know just what you can use to make your employees work area better? There are a number of websites online that can help you not only make better work environments for your employees, but that can help you do it as well. In fact, many will provide the products that you need and the labor to do it at a very reasonable rate. Give in a little and reap the rewards by providing great cubicles for your employees. Why Your Mall Or Retail Space May Not Be So Hot

By Grant Fairley I was visiting a beautiful mall in downtown Charleston, West Virginia this summer. It had some great anchor stores, many small chain stores, boutiques and the food court. The mall was clean, well lit and people were moving around. But this mall like many retail spaces was not so hot. Since they were not hot those retailers lost business. Dollars walked out of the mall that might have stayed. The worst part of it is that they could have been hot for just a few dollars a month. There was no wireless internet hot spot in the mall. The mall was not hot. My wife and I are the traditional couple when it comes to shopping. Im the hunter who will know what big game Im after run in bag it and get out before I am eaten by the great mall dragon. We all know instinctively that somewhere in the mall sleeps a dragon ready to destroy any man who stays too long in the mall. When my wife approaches shopping, she uses the traditional gatherer skills handed down from our ancestors. She carefully surveys the area and then takes time to look at each item of interest to be sure it will be what the family needs or wants or imagines it needs or wants but I digress She does find great bargains and interesting items that makes our home and life much more interesting. The biggest surprise to hunters like myself she loves doing it. She does not fear the sleeping mall dragon. This creates an obvious problem whenever we both are at a mall together at the same time. I would like to dart in and dart out. She would just like to dart in Successful married couples handle this in different ways. Some men just dont go. Others will wait in sweltering heat in the car in hope of a ballgame or talk show on the radio. Some will even enter the mall and sit ever so still on the blessed mall benches appearing to be in some kind of trance. The do not move they just sit silently like mall monks doing penance for the many grievous errors from their youth. The less skilled will move back and forth on their bench making all sorts of sounds and deep utterances the pain of the moment allowing them to perhaps wake the mall dragon. The most foolhardy men will actually accompany their wives into the stores. These brave fools might try to hurry their spouse along and risk the wrath of their wife. Or they will clench their fists and teeth as they admire the various items held up for their approval. But there is a third way. Sadly, this fine mall in that beautiful city nestled between the mountains on the Kanawha River missed it. All they needed was a hot spot. A hot spot is a place that will allow people with wireless devices like their laptop computer to access the internet through a wireless network. Shoppers with wireless devices then can check their email, surf the internet or do other tasks that are part of the wireless world. The cost to set this up in equipment like the Linksys SpeedBooster Wireless Router is about US$100 for a wireless router (you can also add an eight inch booster antennae to increase the range and strength of your signal) plus the cost of having cable internet or other internet connection to the router. Depending on your area this high speed connection might be up to $50 per month. So for a small investment to set-up and a small monthly cost you have changed to nature of shopping at your mall. Now men like me can sit down and connect to the outside world while my spouse continues the important work of gathering throughout the mall. I no longer feel the rush of time since I have enter a magical zone in the mall that will transport me around the world, to my office or business or to chat with friends or colleagues online. In this hot zone we even lose our fear of the mall dragons. Without the pressure from me my wife is free to shop longer without hearing across the mall the painful shrugs and sighs of the tortured husband waiting uncomfortably for her return. This means more dollars for the mall merchants. This means more dollars for the mall owners. This also means that these customers will come back more often since it was such a happy experience. Hotel chains and some restaurants have figured out the value of high speed internet access. Most of these have gone wireless since more and more devices come with wireless connections on board. Many chains like Starbucks have chosen to become hot spots. It is a natural connection between sitting and drinking coffee while checking your email. Some other store owners have recognized that if you can get a spouse to stick to their store their partner is likely to shop there as well. Food courts are another natural place in a mall setting to have wireless so people can eat and surf at the same time. I think it is important to have these kind of wireless connections to be password free. This kind of public network should not share connection to your business computers or files. It should be only for the public and therefore to make it simple keep it easy to log-on without needing a password. Yet even today, you can go to many well established malls that spend huge amounts of money on advertising and marketing to bring in customer traffic do not have a wireless solution. What is truly amazing is how many stores that have wireless in their name do not have a hot spot for wireless users to use. We believe in wireless we just have no way for you to use it here thats a great marketing message. If you are a mall owner, the marketing manager of your mall or other retail space or a mall merchant - make sure you have a hot spot for your customers to gather. Perhaps your business is a perfect mate to have a wireless option for your hunters to use while they are buying something from your business. Add some heat to your retail space. In this competitive world of big box stores and boutiques that are challenging the traditional mall environments you need every advantage. Make sure you're a hot place to be. Youll keep more of those hunter and gatherer dollars in the mall rather than down the street. Who knows we hunters might even begin to enjoy the mall. Well perhaps we won't go that far Grant D. Why Market to Generation X?

By Bill Willard Generation X"--the 40 million or so people born between 1965 and 1976--understands it is living in a world of uncertainty where neither the government nor private employers offer lifetime financial security. This is, however, the next generation of responsible adults, bright young people with families to protect and educate...and nearly 40 years until retirement. Generation X was the backbone of Operation Iraqi Freedom and continues serving the US effort to bring peace to the Middle East. None had to be there. They chose to be there by becoming Marines, soldiers, sailors, airmen or Coast Guardsmen. For example, our son, Bill, 32, was finishing a four-year Marine Corps enlistment when September 11 changed his life plan. Completing Officer Candidate School and The Basic School would mean another four-year commitmentbut one he gladly made. After receiving his commission, Bill was assigned to Okinawa, and recently returned from an 8-month deployment to Iraq. So don't mistake Gen-Xers for Baby Boomers. Generation X detests labels--including the Gen-X tag its had to live with--and unlike their Boomer parents, has no illusions about the future. Gen-Xers are... Less status-conscious than their parents, Gen-Xers are not into show, they want results. Many Xers no longer view college as the only way to prepare for vocations leading to rewarding careers. These sharp young people are becoming a significant economic and social force. Boldly putting their own stamp on business. Launching hi-tech and other types of companies at a record clip, Gen-Xers are less tied down by old notions of bureaucracy, and they're ready to try out their own management styles. Yet, they view financial prosperity as a by-product of a well-rounded life, not the main event. Risk-takers. Surveys find adversity, challenges, and the high risk of failure, far from discouraging Gen-Xers, have produced a tough, even ruthless edge. Resilience, the willingness to abandon a losing project and try again, is fundamental. Motivated to make a difference. Gen-Xers are attracted to careers that compel interest and provide the challenge of competition. Thirty years ago, Peter Drucker in The Effective Executive, wrote: "Doing the right thing is more important than doing things right." Judging by the wave of successful Whiz Kids with neither formal business education nor conventional management training, Drucker's message resonates. Interested in good personal relationships. Embracing racial and cultural diversity more genuinely and less self-consciously than any generation before them, Xers are also more likely to be tuned-in to personal relationships and do business with someone they like and believe to be competent than with someone claiming to be an "expert." Delaying marriage and starting families. Maybe it's because they've seen so many Boomers end up in divorce court, the so-called challenge of being single in a couples-oriented world no longer squares with the demographics. As a result, Xers also are: More stable when they do marry, Xers are about nesting and making a house a home. Today's newlyweds are typically more mature, well-established and have higher incomes than in the past. Better savers than their Boomer parents. In this they are more like their grandparents. The average Gen-X Moms and Dads start putting money away for college when their kids are 2, while most Boomers waited until theirs were 7. Rediscovering traditional family values. Appalled by the moral relativism and situational ethics of their parents' generation--the Clintons were the last straw for many young Americans (Al Gore and John Kerry amusing poseurs) Xers similarly don't buy the notion that the government-as-nanny-state knows best. Their message: It doesn't take a village, stupid, it takes parents! Redefining the family-career challenge. Boomer women may have opened the door to the workplace, but their daughters are facing the family-career challenge in their own ways. I have talked to women of all ages about balancing work and family life. What has surprised me the most is the difference in outlook between women my age, 27, and women just 10 years older, says Elizabeth McGuire, a graduate student at John Hopkins School of International Studies: But most women I know who are in their 20s are dissatisfied with [family-career] alternatives. Concerned about infertility, many of us want to have children while were young. And though many of the dual-career couples I know who have nannies are wonderful parents and have successful careers, it seems their relationships with each other have suffered. While others debate whether day care is harmful to children, we are more worried about avoiding the frenetic pace these families seem to keep. In a word: Gen-Xers are unique. They don't do things or look at the world the way their parents did, and they have to be approached and worked with accordingly. What This Means To You Marketing and selling to Generation X is a work in progress. That means you can take what you do best and creatively wing it based on what you know about this unique marketplace. Declares motivational speaker and author, Sue A. Hershkowitz, CSP, "Look for ways to twist the familiar and success will beat a path to your door. We say: Gen-Xers may not beat a path to your door, but you can show them the way. Want More? Send questions and comments to w.willard3@knology.net. Bill Willard has been writing high-impact marketing and sales training for over 30 yearsbut as Will Rogers put it: "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there. Through interactive, Web-based "Do-While-Learning" programs, e-Newsletters and straight-talking articles, Bill helps small-business owners and independent professionals get the job done: profitably improving performance, helping grow your business, skipping expensive mistakes, making the journey to success faster, smoother, easier. Organization is Key to Successful Fishing

By Anne Elliott Talk to a professional angler like Kevin Schweder(2003 PWT Rookie of the Year), and you will quickly find out that organization is a major part of their game plan. Keeping rods and equipment organized provides many advantages, not the least of which is allowing the angler to spend more time fishing. Loose rods can be a real hassle on the water. Besides taking up premium boat space, they are also more likely to get broken tips or have tangled line. And its not much fun untangling rods on a hot August day, or losing you favorite rod to a broken tip. Ideally, rods should be kept upright in the boat in a secure holder. Protect your rods from scuffs and wear by using rod holders that feature foam locking rings. Keeping all your rods in a central location provides quick and easy access to your arsenal. But keep in mind that a rod holder that will quickly and easily move to different areas of the boat can be a real asset. A quality rod holder will allow an angler to keep his rods safe yet accessible from anywhere on the boat. An angler may also save time by rigging his favorite presentations before even getting on the water. Keeping different rods and presentations ready at all times allows a fisherman to easily change technique at any moment. An angler in the hunt for walleye for example, may want to have a 7 foot rod set up with a favorite rigging presentation while also having his 6 foot rod set up for jigging. To save more time he may also want to set up his favorite presentations for trolling. This is especially critical when time is a factor, as with tournament situations, but can save alot of time for any angler. Be sure to look for a heavy duty rod holder that can safely handle more than one or two rods. A rod holder that can accomodate up to 8 rods is your best bet. With the average angler owning more than six rods, storage and transport can present a real problem. Making the transition from storage to pick-up to boat is often time consuming and frustrating. An ideal rod holder will accomodate all these situations. Look for a rod holder that easily converts from a holder while in the boat, to a safe way to transport and store your rods out of the boat. Kevin Schweder suggests a rod holder such as the Rod Wrangler by Cornerstone Manufacturing. Simply put, the Rod Wrangler makes organization and transportation of rods and reels simple, so I can spend more time fishing. And really, isnt that what its all about? Anne Elliott

Trick Or Treat - Is This Make-Believe Or The Real Thing?

By Toni Coleman "I'll call you this week". "Yes, I'd love to see you again". "I had a great time". "I'm not interested in dating anyone else". "I think I'm falling in love with you." These are a few of the phrases passed between singles as they move through the stages of meeting and dating. At the time, they are uttered with what feels like true emotion and honesty. No wonder the person they are directed to is so confused when the call never comes, the person becomes unavailable, or it soon becomes evident that the speaker is dating or deeply involved with someone else. Can we ever believe what we see or hear? How can we be sure? Dating is a process of getting to know someone. It begins with an attraction, which is formed by that first impression. Often, this first meeting occurs by chance at a social gathering, at work or in the course of one's daily life. More and more, it happens through a response to a personal ad and the emailing and phone calls that follow. Both in-person and email or voice contact give us a sense of the other individual- but this is only a brief snapshot of who they may be. It takes real time together to create a larger and clearer picture of this other person and their rightness or wrongness for us. During this time we assess for friendship, attraction, shared interests and values, and a willingness and ability on the part of both individuals to move forward in a relationship. Given that this is a process, it has stages. A first date helps the couple to learn more. It is a fact-finding experience, which involves not only the information the other provides, but our feelings and reactions to it and to them as a potential partner. We show our best selves and attempt to make an appropriate connection with someone we find desirable. In the best scenario, everything clicks for both people and conversation is natural and easy. More often, there may be questions, doubts, and/or mixed feelings. Seeing each other again is often suggested by one or both people and is a good way to learn more about each other and resolve any questions. But the doubts and negative feelings go unstated in a desire to either give the other person a chance or to let them down easily. It's also an easy way out for someone who is uncomfortable with this level of emotional honesty. So, how do we know what the other person is truly feeling? You have several options for getting this information. * You take them at their word and wait to see if they follow through with what they have said they would do. Nothing speaks louder than behavior. This option is the most common choice and can leave you in that all too familiar holding and wondering pattern. * You attempt to address the situation openly and candidly. This one requires a bit of courage and an ability to be vulnerable. State how you are feeling in a thoughtful but honest way. Ask them to do the same for you. Let them know that you want to hear their honest thoughts about how the date went and if they would like to get together again. * The third option should be used regardless of what you do with the other two. Pay attention to their non-verbal communication. How do they look at you? What quiet responses do you get after you have shared something about yourself? What do you see in their facial reaction, posture and eyes? Do you FEEL interest or just politeness? Are they really WITH you, or somewhere else? If you learn to listen to the non-verbal language, you will HEAR much more than what their words have to say. Listening to the whole person applies throughout the stages of dating and relationships. It is also important during this time to pay attention to their behavior and note inconsistencies or mixed messages. Too often people don't and are stunned when a relationship "suddenly" ends or they find out they are seeing someone who was not the person they thought they were. Trust your instincts and listen "with a third ear". Remember also that the responsibility for honesty is also on you. Don't say what you think the other person wants to hear because you don't want to be impolite or hurt their feelings. If you really think about it, it is more hurtful and in poor taste to be dishonest with someone who has a true interest and is trying to learn yours. Why Aren't You Using This Marriage Saving Tip?

By Larry Bilotta Do you find that things would just be so much easier if your spouse would do things your way? Most of the time, this just isn't the case. So you married your complete opposite, your relationship is stressful and the two of you can't even agree on what to have for dinner. Does this mean that for the rest of your life, you are subject to the painful battle of fighting over your way vs. his/her way unless one of you gives in? No! There is no need to argue over who does what which way. And most importantly, neither of you need to change who you are. You're about to learn the single most important marriage saving tip that can drastically lower your stress with your spouse. If you understand what you and your spouse value in life, you can cut your relationship stress in half! (Like I did with MY wife!) It's true. I developed this marriage saving tip after using it to transform my OWN marriage. My 32 year marriage is PROOF that this marriage saving tip can work for YOUR marriage! Okay, let's get started The first thing you need to do is talk with your spouse about the things you passionately believe inor feel strongly against. You can start by discussing the little things in life that bug you (and no, I'm NOT talking about your spouse!) ;-) Let me give you an example My wife absolutely HATES gum chewing. Now I'm not talking about people who silently chew their gum with their mouths closed, I'm talking about people who, when they pop a piece of gum in their mouth, EVERYONE knows it. They pop their gum, smack and chew with their mouths wide open. Yes, I know it sounds trivial, but it absolutely drives her NUTS. Now, if I didn't know WHY this little pet peeve of hers drives her 'up the wall', I would simply think she's crazy. I might even start becoming annoyed and aggravated whenever she starts to verbally attack the nearest irritating gum chewer. Now here's the part of this marriage saving tip that most people are not aware of EVERY one of your pet peeves, habits or BELIEFS are created by a memory or event from the past. Take my wife for example. The reason she despises people who pop and crack their gum is because HER MOTHER would do it without any regard for her feelingsthroughout her ENTIRE childhood. My wife hated it THEN and she still hates gum chewing TODAY. It simply brings back too many painful memories. To her, a gum chewer might as well be scratching nails on a chalkboard or screeching a fork against a plate. The main idea you should walk away with from this marriage saving tip is that you need to discuss with your spouse WHY you do things a certain way, WHY you hate certain things and WHY you love other things. NOTE: Be sure to talk about the 'problem areas' in your marriage. That IS the point of this discussion after all. Give your spouse your perspective on 'hot topics' in your marriage which could be anything from punctuality, family values, religion, eating habits or even personal privacy. Ask your spouse questions and have them do the same. Ask questions like 1. Honey, when you were young, did your mother or father have a problem being on time? 2. What happened in your childhood that makes you hate clutter and messes so much? WARNING: Don't make this sound like an accusation! If you do, your positive discussion will be over! When you ask your spouse these questions, s/he will probably struggle for words or not come up with an immediate explanation for WHY he or she does these things. And that's okay. Try to jog his/her memory by recalling your own memories about this subject For example:
The reason I __ (fill in the blank) __ is because my parents __ (fill in the blank) ____ when I was a child. Remember: You and your spouse were shown how to live by your parents or guardians. They shaped most of what you value and believe in today. The point of this discussion is to understand WHY the two of you disagree on any given topic. This will help the two of you accept each other because you'll no longer feel threatened by your very different values in life. So there you have it. Use this marriage saving tip to get to the source of your problems instead of focusing on the 'little issues' (like gum chewing). If you don't know which values are causing conflict in your marriage, you'll never be able to truly resolve your disagreements. When I finally understood WHY my wife's values were so different from my own, the stress in my marriage was DRASTICALLY reduced. I know you'll find the same to be true when you put this marriage saving tip to use in your own marriage. If you dont know how to recognize the warning signs that lead to divorce, before you know it, your marriage could be over. Loans: Simple, Easy, and Understandable

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jason_D._Barrett]Jason D. Barrett What is a loan? In its simplest form it is when someone or some institution lends someone else money. There is typically interest charged on the loan and some set payback schedule. Some loans can be short term like a six month CD. Other loans can be long term like a thirty year mortgage. Interest can be charged on a loan in several different ways. There is simple interest. An example of this would be where 10% of the loan principle (the amount that is being borrowed) is owed to the lender. So on a $100 loan you would pay the lender the $100 that you borrow and an additional $10 to cover the interest on the loan. There is also compound interest. This is when interest is charged on interest and so on. This is the way that most loans work. Interest can compound on any schedule, but it is typically monthly or continuously compounding. This type of interest is very attractive when you are the one benefiting from the interest growth. There are several places you can get a loan. You can get a loan from a bank, credit union, credit card, hard money lender, friend, family member, etc. Loans are issued to people for many different reasons. The most common reasons people take out a loan are to purchase a house, automobile, student loan, recreational vehicle, boat, etc. There are really nice tools online for calculating loans and loan payments so you can do some what if analysis before you borrow. For more information on loans and the companies that provide them, simply run a search for loans on Google and you will get plenty of addtional information. Jason D. Depilatories - Answers To Frequently Asked Questions

By Mike Jones What are depilatories? A depilatory is a preparation in the form of a liquid or cream that is used to remove unwanted hair from the body. The word depilatory, pronounced "di-pila-toree", literally means "to deprive of hair" (Latin pilus, hair). What is the difference between a depilatory and an epilatory? Depilatories remove hair on the skin's surface. An epilatory such as waxing or tweezing (plucking) removes the hair from below the skin's surface taking out the hair follicle. How do depilatories work? Depilatories contain chemicals with a high degree of acidity (low pH) such as sodium thioglycolate, or calcium thioglycolate. They react with the protein structure of hair breaking it down. Depending on the coarseness of hair, within 5 to 15 minutes, the hair is dissolved into a gloopy mass which can then be washed away. Why does skin feel so smooth after applying depilatories? Depilatories act as an exfolient which means it removes dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. These dead skin cells accumulate every day and they often feel rough. After removal the skin feels softer and smoother. Many depilatories contain moisturizers such as Baby Oil, Almond Oil, Green Tea Extract and Aloe which contribute to softer smoother skin. Which is best - a depilatory cream or liquid? A depilatory lotion or liquid is designed for larger areas of the body such as the legs, underarms and bikini area. A depilatory cream has a thicker consistency so it can be applied to specific areas without the risk of it running on to skin you don't want treated. A cream is therefore ideal for the face. How long do the results last? This varies with the individual but usually for many days even up to around two weeks. Generally the results last longer than using a razor. The chemicals in depilatories reach down into the pores of the skin thus removing hair below the level of the skin. As a result, the hair takes longer to grow back. Oil Painting Lesson - An Introduction To Oil Painting Supports

By Ralph Serpe An oil painting support is any surface that oil paint can be applied to. There are a variety of different surfaces that artists use to paint on. Everything from certain woods, canvas, and even metals can serve as supports for oil paint. This article will introduce you to those various supports and hopefully help you decide which support is best for your style of oil painting. LINEN Linen is made from the fibers of the flax plant. The plants are harvested and then left to soak in water until the outside of the plant rots away leaving the fibers underneath. The fibers are then processed into yarns or threads which are then woven into canvas. The fibers of the flax plant are long and quite strong and make for a very interesting and durable painting support. Paintings executed on this surface have withstood the test of time. It is for this reason that linen canvas is a favorite amongst professional oil painters. Unfortunately linen canvas is rather expensive and may not be the best option for beginners. If you are interested in learning more about linen canvas, check your local art store or go online and do a search. There are a variety of different linen canvases available, from rolled canvas to pre-stretched. It comes primed for acrylic and oils, or you can get it unprimed as well. COTTON Cotton canvas is the most popular support for beginner oil painters. It is a relatively strong material and much cheaper than linen. It has a very even and mechanical weave. There is a big debate going on in the art world over which is the better painting support, linen or canvas? What support will last longer? This is really a matter of personal opinion and taste. I know many artists, including myself, who use cotton canvas exclusively. Other artists swear by linen. If the surface is sized correctly, then your painting will be well protected from rot and will last a long time. So when deciding between linen or cotton, I feel your decision should be based on how you enjoy working with the material itself and not whether or not it will be around in three hundred years. If you are really concerned about the durability of cotton, then purchase a heavy grade cotton canvas and try stretching it yourself. Cotton canvas is available in rolls or pre-stretched, primed or unprimed. CANVAS PADS For those artists who may be on a tight budget but still want a descent quality surface to paint on, then canvas pads are a good choice. Canvas pads come in a variety of different sizes and are great for beginners who are just starting out. Canvas pads are great for practice or doing studies. Make certain you get a heavy weight canvas pad suitable to hold oil paint. MASONITE OR HARDBOARD Masonite is another popular oil painting support for artists. Masonite is actually a trademarked name for a synthetic hardboard made from wood particles. Hardboard is inexpensive and rigid. If you plan to use large hardboards, it is recommended that you reinforce them with a frame, as they can bow or bend. You can purchase plain hardboards or other varieties like canvas boards, which are hardboards covered with a ready to paint canvas material. WOOD PANELS The earliest known oil paintings were created on wood panels made of oak or poplar. The wood was covered with a uniform ground made of animal skin glue and chalk. The ground was then polished smooth to create a surface suitable for oil paint. Pure hard wood panels are not the most popular ground for oil painters today. They are costly and rather difficult to lug around. A good alternative that oil painters use is plywood. There is good quality plywood available made of birch, poplar or mahogany that is suitable for oil paints if prepared correctly. Do not paint on soft woods such as pine because they contain more resins and do not resist moisture very well. The above are the more popular oil painting supports in use today. There are others that artists use when they are feeling adventurous. Metals like copper and aluminum are sometimes used as a painting support. Obviously metals are quite heavy, so paintings on this type of support are usually on the smaller side. There are also other fabrics used in oil painting like jute, which is a strong natural fiber with a rough texture. Your choice of oil painting support really depends on your style of painting. Experiment with the variety of painting supports available and have fun. You will eventually find one that works best for you. How to Build Rapport With Your Bank Manager

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Robert_Warlow]Robert Warlow If you are looking for a Bank to support your new business or help expand your existing business then its very likely that you have had to deal with a Bank Manager. Depending on how well the Manager knows you very often you will have to attend an interview. Everything you do and say in the interview will have a bearing on whether you are assessed as a good or bad risk. Building rapport between you and the Manager is part of this process. Lets look at just some of the tools you can use to build rapport with your Manager. Speak With Confidence There's no getting away from it, human nature is such that we naturally feel more comfortable with people who are confident and can express their ideas and thoughts with conviction. Your voice has to convey your inner strength. It has to say to the listener, "I'm going to make a success of this business" or "I know that the additional money I'm asking for will help me increase sales turnover by 100%". Your voice is an expression of the strong belief you have in yourself. People are drawn to those who are confident. Portraying confidence will help create rapport. Make Plenty of Eye Contact Stare him straight in the eyes when you want to put across a particularly powerful point; this demonstrates confidence. Avoiding eye contact gives the impression you are so uncomfortable with what you're saying that you can't look him in the eye. Your discomfort could give the Manager the feeling that you either lack confidence or are lying. Not looking him the eye, especially during crucial statements, will lead to him asking himself questions such as, "He's trying to hide something. What is it?"; " He doesn't seem very comfortable with what he just said. Has he got a problem with that area?" Your eyes can give away so much about your thoughts. Make sure they say you are confident, not afraid of the task ahead and worthy of support. Smile! A miserable person is not going to endear themselves to anyone. It's a fact that we gravitate to people who are happy and smiling. They appear to be having a ball in life and we want to be part of it! If you walked into a department store and you had the choice of two assistants, one who was smiling and welcoming and one who was down-in-the-mouth, who would you choose to go to? A smile has the power to melt away any opposition or ill feeling. It's another aspect of our body language, which shouts out confidence and helps builds rapport Watch His Body Language You will be able to gauge his initial reactions by observing his body language and reacting to that. If you learn to read body language then misunderstandings can be rectified early on and you'll get an important insight into what the other person is thinking. Here are some of the things to look out for: If you see him leaning back in his chair, it's almost as if he's trying to get as far away from you as possible. The hidden meaning could be that he's trying to distance himself from what you are proposing; in other words he doesn't like your idea. If you see this, you need to immediately find out what is on his mind, so ask a question. Ask if he has any comments on what you've said so far and this will give you the chance to get him back on your side. If he has misunderstood something which has led him to switching off, then it's important you clarify the problem, correct it and move on If he has started supporting his head with his hands, it may be that he has lost interest in what you're saying. If you see this "loss-of-interest" signal, again ask a question such as "Do you have any queries so far?" Asking questions of someone who looks bored or left out, brings them back into the conversation and again gives you an opportunity to check their understanding of what you have covered The opposite of the "bored pose", is where he starts leaning towards you. This may indicate a high level of interest in what you have to say and shows you that you're on the right track. Spotting this will help improve your confidence even further Crossed arms and legs may indicate a negative feeling towards your proposal. Again, ask questions to uncover what the problem or concern is, so you can clear up any misunderstandings If he is maintaining a very "open" position i.e. arms apart, nodding in agreement, he is indicating that he's keen to know more about your project and so giving you the green light to carry on with your presentation If you see evidence of negative body language, ask questions to get him to express his feelings or thoughts. Such questions would be: "What do you think about what I've covered so far?"; "From what you've heard so far, what are your impressions?"; "Have I made myself clear?" Learn To Use Success-Based Words As a successful or potentially successful businessman, you do not want to be using the same dull words as the general masses. In line with your strong belief and confident talking style, you need to use words, which propel you above the average person and backup the belief you have in your success. Your words have to shout out that here is a successful person who knows what he wants! The words you use have to convey your enthusiasm and energy - these are success-based words - all of which is necessary to run a successful business. Success-based words are can do, will do phrases. Changing your vocabulary to a "success-based" one will take some practice and constant vigilance on your part. Try and think of the words you use on a daily basis. Do they convey what you really want to say? Are they non success-based or success-based? Can you change them to ones that are? When you use success-based words, remember what we said about the use of emphasis. Success-based words are the ideal ones to emphasis. Properly emphasised they do convey power, success, confidence and a strong belief. We have looked at some of the tools you can use to help build rapport with your Bank Manager. All of them will help you get ahead of the game, so study them and practice their use. Robert Warlow

Supplication - What Does It Mean?

By Robert Torrey There is a term in the seduction community known as supplication. They says it is bad to do anything nice for somebody. They have defined it as paying a girl a compliment, buying her a drink, taking her to dinner, you get the idea. The definition of supplication To "supplicate" to someone is to display deference or servile behavior in hope of receiving something in return from that person (i.e. to act like a "supplicant"). Supplication is usually done by somebody who is in hope of increasing their chances of getting together with somebody. Ironically, supplication has the opposite effect, because it subcommunicates lower social value and insecurity, leading the woman to think that the guy is trying to kiss her ass or even manipulate her. Supplication usually involves (a) giving a woman some form of unreciprocated special treatment or (b) placing oneself in a position of lower social value relative to her in order to get to to "repay" you with something. Common examples include: doing something nice for her
passively reacting to the situation
bribing her to give you what you want
She is calling the shots
Inappropriate for the situation (ie: buying her a trip to Paris w/o sleeping with her) "Anti-supplication" doing something nice for her
actively controlling the situation
rewarding her for giving you what you want
You are calling the shots
Appropriate for the situation (ie: buying her a pool game on the first date) I have been thinking about this a little bit. Supplication is when you do something nice for somebody at their suggestion and are wanting approval in exchange for it. In other words, you are reacting to their frame. For instance, if she asks you to buy her a drink and you do, then that is supplication. On the other hand, doing something nice for her at your own discretion isn't supplication, because now you are playing in your frame. She asks you to buy her a drink, and you reframe: "give me a kiss". She kisses you. Well, now she is playing by your rules ... it is perfectly ok to buy her a drink! After all, you are a man of integrity, right? The attitude behind what you are doing is what really matters with supplication. Are you doing something as a true gift with expecting nothing in return? Are you giving and expecting something in return for this? Looking for some sort of approval. Its what frame you are coming from thats really important. Think about Brad Pitt. Does he look for approval? Would it matter if he met a girl at a bar and within 5 minutes bought her a drink. Nope because hes got a strong frame. Get that strong frame and then the community term supplication wont matter. Robert Torrey is one of the instructors for Attract and Date. Alcohol and Wedding Receptions-Everything You Will Need to Know

By Jean Bachcroft Sure you want your guests to enjoy themselves at your wedding
reception, but if you dont want to break the bank or the law heres what
you will need to know, including how to calculate how much to buy. Unquestionably, one of the hottest topics that must be dealt with when
planning a wedding reception is whether to have an open bar or a cash
bar. Why does this particular topic tend to be so controversial? Well, for one thing, some people will tell you that it would be rude to
invite guests to your reception, then ask them to pay for their own drinks.
On the other hand, an open barat which your guests drink for free,
perhaps into the wee hours of the morning if they last that longcould
leave you with a bill that will forever remain etched in your memory. Both points of view are well taken. Its true that one wouldnt ordinarily
invite people to dinner or a party with the expectation that they will pay
for what you serve. But it is equally true that people tend to be overly
indulgent, not to mention downright wasteful, with alcohol they arent
paying for. They will take a sip or two, set their glass down and begin
talking, then walk away. Later, instead of returning for their glass, they
will head for the bar to order yet another drink. So, whats the answer? Options, Anyone There really isnt a correct answer, but there are options. You could: *Serve free champagne punch. Since it is relatively light in terms of
alcohol content, your guests arent as likely to become obnoxious, even
if theyve had more than their fair share. *Have an open bar for the first hour or two. This approach will prevent
you from feeling, and looking, like a cheapskate but will allow you to
keep your bank account in the black. *Have each table set to include the allocated bottles of wine or
champagne. For example, a table seating six to eight people might be
decked with two bottles of wine or champagne. Since you can expect
each bottle to hold between 4 and six glassfuls, everyone will have one
to two glasses for dinner and the toast. (Obviously, you will want to have
the toast as early as possible to avoid an embarrassing situation in
which guests will be forced to hold up empty glasses.) *Use the open-and-shut-case approach. This requires purchasing beer
kegs or cases of good-quality beer, plus several cases of good-quality
wine. Since you have purchased the supply in advance, you will
determine just how much is being spent on drinks. For guests who insist upon drinking until the cows come home or would
like something stronger, make a cash bar available. *Have waiters and waitresses serve drinks from a tray. This approach is
not only stylish, it is also quite cost effective because you remain in
control of how much is consumed. Choose a few different drinks to be served, including beer and wine.
Then have the staff circulate throughout the reception area at
pre-scheduled intervals. Perhaps the waiters and waitresses might offer
drinks when the reception starts, then just before or during dinner, then a
few times later in the evening but not throughout the night. With tray
service, you guest will not pay for their drinks, but this will still be a lot
cheaper than having an open bar. At-home Receptions If you are planning to have your reception in a home or backyard and
you will not be using a caterer, here is what you will need to know. In this situation, a cash bar is simply not one of the available choices. It
is against the law to sell alcohol without a liquor license. (You wouldnt
want to spend your honeymoon in the pokey.) If the home is not equipped with one, you will need a rented bar (or a
sturdy table or two, dressed to the floor or ground with linen). Plan to
stock the bar or table(s) with beer, vodka, rum, whiskey, tequila, cordials
(liqueur), brandy, gin, wine, sparkling juice, and possibly punch. Offering a sparkling white wine is also nice. If you are planning to serve
champagne (Although only a sparkling white wine made in the
Champagne region of France can be truly called champagne, people
often refer to any bubbly by that name.), expect to pay more. A decent
bottle (You will only disappoint the true connoisseur, and they are a
dying breed.) will cost between $10 and $12 and will serve seven to
eight glasses. Even at these prices per bottle, you may want to reserve it
for the toast. Borrow or shop for a bartenders guide (Mr. Boston Deluxe Official
Bartenders Guide, for example). For your mixologist, you might also
stock such things as lemons, limes, celery, maraschino cherries, and
olives. Youll also want to have soda water, tonic water, sparkling water,
coke, ginger ale, and a few other soft drinks, plus swizzle sticks and
cocktail napkins. Last, but not least, remember to have an ample supply
of ice (crushed and cubed) on hand. Standard Guidelines for Consumption Expect each guest to have four to five drinks at the reception. Youll get
twenty-five drinks from a fifth of liquor, providing youre using a
one-ounce pony to make them with one ounce of alcohol each. Using
one and a half ounces of alcohol (that is, a one-and-a-half-ounce jigger),
youll get eighteen drinks per fifth of alcohol. A single case of alcohol
contains twelve bottles. Assuming that youre using one ounce of
alcohol to make every drink, then one case will yield 300 drinks. If you would like to serve beer on tap, half a keg will yield 260
eight-ounce glasses of beer. Seven cases of beer will yield the same
amount. With regard to unopened bottles of alcohol, dont be too concerned
about over stocking. It is better to have too much, rather than not
enough. Besides, unopened bottles of alcohol can usually be returned
to the store. The Law and Your Liability Needless to say, it is against the law to serve alcohol to anyone under
the legal drinking age. The sobering fact is that courts have consistently
ruled that restaurants, caterers, and hosts are financially liable when
minors who are served alcohol are injured, become involved in a car
accident, or break the law. You can also be held liable for an adult who suffers an injury, become
involved in a car accident, or step outside of the law after drinking too
much in your home. Caterers and restaurants are subject to the same
liability. Your best protection against legal liability involving alcohol is to plan
ahead and react sensibly. If your reception is to be catered, discuss a
plan of action with the caterer before hand. He or she undoubtedly will
cooperate. Avoid serving salty foods since they make people thirsty. Foods high in
proteinsuch as meat, fish, eggs, and cheesewill help to keep your
guests sober. Once a person is drunk, its too late to reach for the pot of coffee. Giving
your happy drunk coffee will only make him or her hyper and jittery. If
you need to sober someone up, try to get the person to drink water,
which will dilute the alcohol in their system and flush it out. By no means, let that person driveno matter what they say. Instead,
call for a taxi or find another driver to take the person home. About the Author Jean Bachcroft is a former public relations director, founder of Bachcroft

Canadian Pet Drugs

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Emerson] Peter Emerson Online pharmacies in Canada offer a wide range of medication for pets too. Canadian pharmacies offer a facility of mailing medication to US pet owners. A pharmacy is allowed to mail maximum of a 90-day supply for prescription drugs as stated by US FDA and US Customs rules. It may be followed by 3 refills if such medication is prescribed for a year. There is no limit set on number of non-prescription medications, such as the ones used for flea prevention. Prescriptions for Canadian pet drugs are valid for the duration specified by veterinarians and filled completely according to their directions. Canadian drug stores can also fill prescriptions for one year if they are written accordingly. Most pharmacies send a 90-day supply of pet medicines unless other directions are supplied by the prescribing veterinarian. The quality of pet medicines is similar to what customers can get in U.S. Some pet drugs may have different brand names but have same generic composition. Pet owners are advised to refer to prices listed on the Web site. Most sites clearly state if a medication is a generic version of the brand name drug, so customers will know what they are getting. The Canadian government is able to impose price control over the amount a pharmaceutical manufacturer can charge for brand-name drugs. A strict control over awarding approval for the sale of drugs restricts subsequent price increases. Most pharmacies charge a shipping fee per package for an unlimited number of prescriptions if pet owners order the prescriptions by mail. All prescription drug prices include veterinarian charges and drug supply fees. If an owner purchases medication for more than one pet, each pet must have its own forms and prescriptions. However, phone consultations may be available for several pets at the same time and their drugs can be shipped together as well. Canadian drug stores accept Visa, MasterCard, international money orders, and bank certified checks for payment. When considering return policies, most pharmacists do not accept returns on any drug, be it prescription or over the counter. Whole Life Insurance Rates

By Alison Cole Obtaining a whole life insurance policy is like providing security for the next generation of your family. You will not likely experience the full benefits of your investment. Unlike term insurance policies, whole life insurance policies reach maturity when you die or when you reach 100 years old. Your beneficiaries, however, can use the large amount of money in business investments or to pay off large debts and mortgages. To know how much whole life insurance policy you can afford to pay, starting today, you may visit any insurance carriers or brokers Web site and request a free and instant whole life insurance rate. Basic Information Needed You may have to disclose basic personal information like your name, address, contact numbers, birth date, and a brief summary or description of your health. But before giving out this information on the application form, read first the privacy and security clause on the form. Make sure that the company will not sell your information to other enterprises what will eventually hound you with spam and junk mail. Whole life insurance rates vary per person. The general understanding is that older peoplethose in their forties or fiftieswill most likely pay more for the same premium than a much younger client in his twenties. The rationale behind this is that older people have less contribution lead time than younger people, who have more years ahead of them as active contributors. The risks of health hazards for older people are also greater. The whole life insurance rate also depends on the amount of coverage or policy a person is considering. An expensive policy in millions of dollars of course demands a larger contribution than a policy valued at just a few thousand dollars. How To Deal With Rising Interest Rates

By Joseph Kenny For the past few years, interest rates have been quite low, causing many people to borrow large amounts of money for a variety of different expenses. Now these interest rates are about to rise, and they will have a large effect on the personal finances of many borrowers. How do these interest rates affect you? What can you do to prepare for rising interest rates? In this article I will answer both of these questions. When Do Interest Rates Rise? When the Federal Bank increases the interest rates, the cost of mortgages, loans, and credit cards are also increased. Because the average American household owes at least $10,000 in credit card debt, they will be heavily effected the rising interest rates. If you are having a difficult time making your payments every month or are only making the minimum payments, it can be very difficult to pay down the principle when the interest continues to increase. In a situation like this it could take many years to pay off a loan. Dont Be Depressed Even worse, if the economy suffers a major depression similar to what occured in 1929, banks and loan companies may begin calling in debts in order reduce their losses. This means that customers will be forced to pay back everything they owe up front, and if they can't their homes, cars, or other valuables could be taken from them. While this may sound extreme, history has a way of repeating itself. It is important to make sure you do everything you can to protect yourself and reduce the amount of debt you owe. Try To Pay Your Debt Early One thing you will want to do is start paying more than just the minimum payments. As the interest rates continue to rise, making only the minimum payments will do nothing to reduce your debt. If you don't have enough money to make more than just the minimum payments, look for ways to cut back on your expenses so that you will have more money left over to pay on your loans. You will want to reduce your spending and set aside a budget that will allow you to make larger payments towards the principle rather than just the interest. Get On A lower Interest Rate Don't listen to credit card companies that advertise credit cards at a fixed rate. By law, credit card companies have to give you a notice before increase the interest rate on the credit cards, and very few loans are exempt from the interest rates that are increased by the Federal Bank. It is best to transfer your balances from high interest credit cards to those that have a much lower interest rate. Look for companies that offer 0% interest rates for a set period of time. Home equity loans or lines of credit are tools that can also be used to consolidate and pay of your debts. Consider A Cheaper Mortgage If you have a mortgage that features an adjustable interest rate, consider switching to a fixed rate before interest rates begin to rise. This could keep you from getting into a situation where you could lose your home. If you are looking to buy a house, it is important to remember that the cost of houses will greatly increase once the interest rates start to rise. This means you will want to find a house before this happens so that you will avoid paying inflated prices. Lease Or Buy a Car If you are thinking of a getting a car, it may be a good idea to buy used instead of leasing a car from a dealership. It doesn't make much sense to get a car loan at a time when interest rates are about to rise. Buying a used car has many advantages, but you will want to do your research to make sure you get a good deal. Growing Your Own Organic Veggies

By Shya D One item to keep in mind when growing veggies naturally, you have to begin with quality soil. This can be obtained by the use of compost and organic fertilizer. All time, monies and energies put into your soil to enrich it will reward you with an abundance of great tasting veggies. The cost of organic veggies is substantially more than regular veggies, so going organically is a big plus. Growing your own organic vegetables garden also means having chemical free food. Experience working with organic gardens has shown gardeners this is the best way to maintain a budding garden. This practice is also helpful in protecting your animal friends. Compost creates very fertile soil. You can use most any type of organic matter that you can find; add leaves, twigs, garbage such as potato peels, lettuce leaves, onion peelings and what ever fruit or veggie discards you have. Determine where you will put your compost pile, somewhere off to the side or corner of your lot or yard. Some people prefer to build a bin, but that is not necessary. Dig the earth a few inches deep- 3 to 4 inches. This will expose soil bacteria to give the mulch a good start. The first layer is called a hot layer and should be composed of garbage and if possible some manure, which can be purchased at your local feed store or home hardware. Layer this about 2 inches deep. Something else to consider is green matter; old leaves, weeds, trimming from bushes, etc. A thin layer of granite dust, rock phosphate or other trace additives- again check at local stores. Top this with an inch of soil- preferably organic. Begin again layering in the same way. The compost pile requires frequent watering as the heat of decomposition dries it out and stops the composting action after a few days. Be careful not to over water, just keep the pile moist. Using a shovel or pitch fork, you should turn the pile twice the first two weeks. The turning helps air get inside the compost. Then turn once a month to keep the compost cooking. If possible have the compost pile at least 4 to 5 feet high. Let's discuss another solution to chemical fertilizers. Its true that chemical fertilizers are less expensive to buy than organic fertilizers. They give you quick plant growth and an abundant yield, but their side effects can be devastating. Chemical fertilizers are made from by-products of petro-chemicals, soil and strong acid. Proven in laboratory tests, chemical fertilizers are know to lower the nutritional content of vegetables. In the West and Southwest, all dry areas, the use of chemical fertilizers is causing the ground to become more compact. Chemical super phosphate treated with sulfuric acid to make it more soluble. Used in man made fertilizers takes a long time to breakdown and the salts formed from them causes the ground to become more compact and ultimately cause erosion. For your health and the environment, refrain from using chemical fertilizers. Don't poison Mother Earth or yourself. Cultivate a garden that is beneficial and rewarding- garden organically. As an online author for OrganicGardenTip.com website, Shya writes about backyard and organic gardening to provide helpful tips and information as found in the article Growing Your Own Organic Veggies Garden. Finding and Using Coupons

By Lisa Hallman So you may think coupons are not worth it? Or you can't find the coupons you need, this will help you understand what you can do to increase your savings. I've learned to save 50% even 90% off my grocery bill by just knowing, and matching coupons to sales. By understanding how they work, and the limitations. YOU CAN USE COUPONS WHEN USING A RAIN CHECK Just because you have a rain check for an item doesn't mean you can't use a coupon. You can often get rain checks for items that have run out on a really good store sale. Extend the savings of product when they have run out and request a rain check. Using a coupon with a rain check fine. COMPLIMENT OR COMPLAIN TO GET GREAT SAVINGS When you contact a company because you really liked or hated a product they will often ask you for your name and address and send you free coupons. Sometimes even if your calling to inquire on a product is good enough for them to warrent giving FPC (free product coupons) or just regular cents off coupons. USE COUPONS WHEN PRICE MATCHING At a store that does price matching (i.e. Zellers) bring in a flyer to increase your savings to show them the price at another store. There is no reason you can't use coupons when doing this. The reason most people price match is because they prefer to do their shopping at a less busy store, or because they collect reward points. GET ON A COUPON TRAIN If you want to get the coupons you really want, start swapping at coupon groups or get on a coupon train. Coupon trains are coupon filled envelopes that pass from one person to another by mail, and upon receiving it remove coupons they want and add coupons they don't need. Then send it on to the next person. Try Trading Post Coupons or Canadian Coupon Club on Yahoo! Groups. I highly recommend them, and it's where I participate alot. They are also free to join, which is a big bonus. WHERE TO FIND COUPONS The best places to look are in the stores in all isles near the product for which the savings are for. You will also get inserts in with your local paper's flyers, community and big name newspapers. You can also find great savings in newspapers in the Sunday edition. You can also find them online on the company website, where you can often print them out or request them. If you are going to trade coupons, collect all coupons so you have something to trade. Have fun, happy saving! Lisa Hallman, owner of Thrifty Canadian
