Natural Alternative Cancer Treatments

By Chris Chenoweth Cancer is the second leading cause of death in this country. It affects about 1 in 3 and is moving towards a ratio of 1 in 2. It strikes men, women, and children. Cancer is caused by a variety of factors, including exposure to environmental toxins, smoking, an unhealthy lifestyle, and genetic predisposition. What is cancer? Our bodies are made up of billions of cells. When some of these cells deviate and do not perform as they should, they become cancer cells and must be removed. Otherwise, the cells will propagate and destroy the body from within. If your immune system is healthy, it is designed to eradicate these cancer cells before you are diagnosed with cancer. However, if the immune system is fragile or the cells multiply too quickly then cancer follows. Therefore, it is crucial to restore your immune system to its strongest state in order for it to battle the cancer cells. There are many ways to strengthen the immune system. The first and easiest method is to make some changes in your diet and lifestyle. Maintaining a healthy weight and eating a nutritious diet are extremely important tools in your fight against cancer. Nutrients found in certain foods strengthen your bodys abilities to ward off diseases like cancer. Consuming a predominantly plant-based diet (fruits, vegetables, and beans), when matched with regular physical exercise and the avoidance of tobacco, can greatly decrease your cancer risk. If you have already been diagnosed with cancer, no matter what stage of cancer or what type of cancer, there are natural alternative methods of treatment available. Many people, who are given little hope by their doctors, choose to receive alternative treatments. More and more people are now learning about the benefits of supplementing their conventional cancer treatments with natural therapies. These natural remedies improve the bodys immune system instead of relying on the often inconsistent results from chemotherapy and radiation. There are many natural alternative cancer treatments and remedies available today. Some of these methods, used in conjunction with conventional methods, strengthen the body and control the side effects of radiation and chemotherapy. Other methods are used in place of the conventional methods. All alternative remedies share the belief that a genuinely healthy body, and thus a balanced immune system, is less susceptible to cancer and better equipped to fight off cancer cells if they develop. Their methods try to eliminate the fundamental problem that permitted the cancer to develop in the first place by restoring a healthy immune system, thus allowing the body to heal itself. Alternative treatments, usually holistic (whole body treatment) in their methods, strive to treat the whole body of the person rather than only the affected area(s). They also care for the patient on many different levels not just the physical part. A patients spiritual and emotional conditions are included in their treatments. ALTERNATIVE CANCER TREATMENTS: METABOLIC THERAPIES: The basic premise of metabolic therapies is that due to the close connection between diet and disease, chronic and life-threatening diseases can be reversed by restricting the type of calories our bodies consume. Since diet determines the health of a person, the treatments must consist of ways to cleanse the body from within. Metabolic therapy uses a combination of methods in an attempt to remove the toxins from the body. The treatments use detoxification to flush the toxins out of the body, plant-based diets consisting of whole foods, and a regimen of vitamins, minerals and enzymes which heal damaged tissues and strengthen and revitalize the immune system. HERBAL THERAPIES: Herbal therapy is the oldest form of medicinal treatment in the world. This treatment uses herbs to strengthen the ability of the body to eradicate cancer cells. It has been around for thousands of years and was used as mainstream medicine by doctors until the late nineteenth century. At that time, the AMA (American Medical Association), consisting of doctors who were in a partnership with a growing pharmaceutical industry, used its clout to abolish the use of natural substances. Because there is no profit to be had from these natural drugs, they were no longer considered viable treatments. The established medical community does not encourage its patients to treat their own cancer by using inexpensive natural substances and therapies. Instead, millions of dollars are spent to create synthetic drugs. MIND-BODY THERAPIES: Because our mind has a powerful effect on our body, these therapies concentrate on the function of emotions and spiritual faith in the recovery process from an illness. They do not guarantee a cure but they can greatly affect what happens in your body and have become an increasingly important part of cancer treatments. Examples of these therapies include hypnosis, biofeedback, visualization techniques that help increase the effectiveness of the immune system, meditation, yoga, tai chi, and participating in pleasing activities like listening to music or taking walks. Anything that promotes improved emotional and spiritual well-being is a mind-body therapy. Using these techniques can alleviate pain, enhance your quality of life, and in some cases eliminate or reduce the disease. Because you can do most of the mind-body therapies yourself, you feel like you are gaining back the control over your life that cancer has taken away from you. If you have been diagnosed with cancer, do not give up hope. You must be proactive and research the various alternative treatments that are available, and there are many. The more you do to help yourself, the better your chances will be to eliminate cancer from your life. Game Plan for Dieters

By Johnny T. Flynn If you make the wise decision of trying to get more exercise, youll need to figure out what you are able to do and how long you are able to do it. Im not talking about what you could do in your glory days. Im talking about what you can do right now. Ill give you an example. When I was in college, I wasnt very fat or heavy at all. I used to jog three miles a day religiously, until the day I got a job, and then I just didnt seem to have the time for it anymore. With a little patience and a lot of junk food, I grew to be over 60 pounds heavier than my former self. Then, out of the blue sky, I decided to take up jogging again. I bought a pair of cheap running shoes and headed for the local high school track. There was quite a variety of people walking, running, and playing soccer. I saw a few high school-aged people and even some women and men over 60 or 70 years old. I thought, This is great, I can look forward to 40 more years of jogging. I remembered that I had liked to stretch before the three-mile-joy-ride, so I stretched out my thighs, calves, and any other leg muscles I could think of. I was set to go, and I couldnt wait to get the runners high that I used to experience daily. The first ten steps were a little bit uncomfortable, and of course they would be. I hadnt attempted to jog in seven years (and 60 pounds). But I only need to run twelve laps, I thought to myself. That would be three miles. I started out strong, but within the first half lap, I had slowed considerably and I was having trouble breathing. This isnt how I remembered it. What was going on? I feared I might collapse right here on the track, and then the grandma runners would pass me up one by one and laugh. I couldnt let that happen. Since I could barely run, or breathe, I decided to start limping. It didnt matter which leg I chose as long as it remained consistent. I slowly limped onto the grass in the center of the track and pretended to be assessing the damage to my leg. I was actually sucking wind quite violently. A few people stopped to ask if I was all right. All I could think to say was, Damn, its the same muscle I pulled six months ago. Im glad they didnt ask me which muscle. I then massaged my leg all over but concentrated most of my efforts on my left ankle. Within five minutes I was up and limping again, this time straight towards my car. Even though I seemed to pull off the fake limping act, I still felt miserable. I hadnt even run one lousy lap. I got in my car and raced away. I couldnt go straight home until I had collected all of my painful thoughts and sorted them out. Instead, I headed to the one place that I felt most welcome...7-Eleven. I dont remember what I feasted on that day, but I didnt imagine that the clerk was laughing at me as I had imagined the other runners back at the track had been. In fact, no one really laughed at me that day, but they might have if I hadnt been such a great actor. And knowing that they could have laughed at me, I ate like a king and queen combined, and I cleansed myself of the imagined laughter. I wanted a hug that day, but maybe what I really needed was therapy. The story illustrates that you need to exercise at your current level of ability. If it has been five years since youve exercised, you cannot expect yourself to pick right up where you left off. Experiment a little and see what your body can actually do right now. Another gem I will peddle to you is the idea of starting small and building up to bigger routines as you become ready. If you decide that walking will be your favorite means of exercising, dont try for ten miles on your first day. You can easily start by just walking around the block each day for a week. Next you can try expanding your walk to involve a few more blocks. The following week youll add even more blocks, and in six months or so, you just might be walking three or four miles. Make sure that you build up gradually, rather than biting off more than you can chew. Its much better to have a continuous string of successes than a setback every four weeks. After you lose ten to fifteen pounds, you will feel able to exercise longer. The more you lose, the more you can do. That seems a bit backwards to me. The people who most need to exercise are the same people who can do the least amount of it. Its a cruel world. Dont thinkjust get started right now. When you are ready to begin exercising, remember that you will be doing this each day. It is important not to get bored. If you keep your exercise bicycle in the garage, make sure you also have a television or radio in the garage. Watching television or listening to the radio passes the time a little faster; before you know it, your 30 minutes are up. One friend of mine is a big advocate of varying your routine often. If youve been walking on flat land as your exercise, perhaps the next thing to do is to try adding some hills to your walk. Then perhaps you could bike on certain days and swim on others. I agree that this would be a better overall workout than exercising the same way each day. However, Im lazier than he, and we both know it. He has weighed 100 pounds less than me for a stretch of nearly ten years, so he must be doing at least a few things right. Whatever your exercise plan will be, make sure you keep at it. Make a schedule and stick to it. Let it be a regular part of your day, like brushing your teeth or feeding your dog or cat. Its easy to say you will just take one day off, but sometimes that day can turn into days or weeks.
Plan ahead for the winter or off-season. You may not be able to jog for long stretches at a time during the winter, depending upon your local climate. Buy that exercise bike, or take up an indoor exercise such as aerobics. It is also wise to be mindful of the time of day you prefer to exercise. I knew a lot of people at my office that liked to get up early in the morning and exercise. I always had a hard time getting up early, since I had been used to staying up so late (when I was twenty-something). But many things would keep me from exercising after work. I was often too tired or mentally drained after work. I also belonged to some clubs that met in the evenings, and I still needed some time to see my friends. Yes, life was busy, but Im sure its been busy for you as well. Given my situation, I eventually realized that I could exercise more consistently if I woke up one hour earlier and exercised in the morning. Was that easy for me? No. It took me three or four months to adjust to my new schedule. But once I found myself bouncing out of bed very early in the morning, I knew I would continue to do so. The best news about exercise is that it gives your metabolism a jolt to help you burn more calories even after youve finished exercising. Thats truly a deal you cant pass up. So stop whatever it is that you are doing and go exercise right now. Yes, I mean it! Hurry! Right now! by Johnny T. Flynn - Author - Heavy Lettuce: Adventures of a Journeyman Dieter,

Small Business Email Marketing

By Ben Fesxbe Are you a small retailer or service business owner? Have you harnessed the power of the internet, specifically email, to communicate your marketing and sales messages to your customers and prospects? You should heres why and how to use small business email marketing! Its estimated that over 60 billion emails are sent daily. Thats billion with a b! Admittedly, many of those are SPAM of one sort or another, but its also safe to say that hundreds of millions of them are carrying marketing messages. Sadly, most of those will never be opened. Of those that are opened, many will never be read. As a small retailer or service business owner, your emails most likely WOULD be opened and read by your customers and prospects IF you were using small business email marketing. Since youre not, the question is why? Email marketing and advertising offers you a surprisingly cost and labor-effective way to reach your customers and prospects with a laser-focused marketing message. Then, once you have found a strategy that works, its easy to repeat it. What could be bad about that? Imagine you have a large shipment of a particular product, or an overstock. How will you get the word out? If you had a list of your customers email addresses, and were set-up to send them an email blast, you would know exactly what to do. Both of those things are very easy to set up, and once theyre in place its like having your very own fleet of mail carriers waiting to deliver your personalized marketing message. You may have thought that small business email marketing was beyond your skills, but its safe to say that a business owner with even the most rudimentary computer skill can have an email campaign up and running in an afternoon. After that, less than an hour a week will keep you in regular, personal contact with your customers and prospects. Wouldnt you like to be able to let your customers know about your specials, sales, and discounts with the touch of a button. Small business email marketing isnt QUITE that easy, but its close! I can teach you how to set up and manage an effective campaign for small business email marketing. Youll be amazed at the power and flexibility youve been missing. Cheap Contract Mobile Phone Deals

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Andrena_Markley]Andrena Markley Contract mobile phone deals have become quite popular among mobile phone users from different age groups and belonging to diverse social and economic strata of society. And there are ample reasons for this trend in the mobile telecommunications sector. First and foremost, a contract mobile phone deal is often devised on one of the latest mobile phone handset from reputed handset manufacturers such as Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG and Samsung. The line rentals of these deals are affordable and within the reach of a large section of the population. The tariff options of many such deals are innovative and reflect the calling habits of users. Thus, a cheap contract mobile phone deals is often the best bet for an avid user of mobile phone. He can get to use his handset, in a manner which gives him the full value for his money. Secondly, he gets to use the latest and most sophisticated handsets, on which many of these deals are devised, without having to pay anything extra! Thus, there is little more that he could wish for! Another important factor that enhances the popularity of cheap contract mobile phone deals is the flexibility that such deals endow on a mobile phone user. A phone user is free to choose a handset from the multitude of handsets on offer in several online mobile phone shops. Secondly, he can choose a specific deal on a specific handset, which he believes would maximize his welfare and satisfaction, subject to his budgetary constraints. And last but not the least, he can upgrade his handset at the end of the period of contract, with the network operator of his choice. The contracts are usually for 12 months or 18 months. This means that a mobile phone user can remain in tune with the changing times and change his handset every year or once in 18 months. He can thus use the latest mobile phone handset at different points in time. For all these reasons, phone users are fond of cheap contract mobile phone deals and are constantly on the lookout for the same! Lawn Care Tips for Everybody

By Clark Covington Lawns often vary in size, shape, and form for most homes. Some lawns are beautifully ornate with lush gardens, and pruned to look like art. Other lawns are thick with weeds, grass, and often give off a sense of an old style farm to passers by. There of course are thousands of other types of lawns that typically fall in between the categories of impeccably groomed, and garden of weeds. For all lawn owners, no matter what type, there are several helpful tips to maintain your lawn, because no matter the look of the lawn, it will hopefully be one thats healthy. The first thing lawn owners should do is create an ideal lawn type they are striving to achieve. Its often said that we cant know where we are going unless we have a destination to begin with. Many lawn owners make the mistake of winging it, or going with whatever inspires them that day. This can lead to unforeseen obstacles, as well as changes of heart in the overall design or landscape of the lawn. To create a visualization of the ideal lawn should take time, and sincere thought. Once you have a vision for your lawn, write it down, review it for plausibility, and start to plan for what you will need. By visualizing your idea lawn a clear set of steps to achieve such a lawn will start to arise. No matter what type of lawn you are interested in having, be sure to invest in water for your lawn. This could mean investing in sprinkler systems, or hoses, or even just a hand held water pourer. The idea with investing in water for the lawn is that your lawn will only be as healthy as the amount of water you put into it. Lawns need water to grow, and maintain color. Without water your lawn will face struggles in staying vibrant. As with any enduring task we humans put ourselves up to, we must make it fun. Create incentive for you to get in the lawn and work on it. Make lawn care fun, by getting a workout from it, or getting a suntan, or just spending time with family while tending to the lawn. The more fun the lawn care is, the more likely you will be to continue it over the years. Get help when your lawn is growing to proportions you cant attend to. Most lawns, when put on the right track will be able to grow consistently, and thus have greater needs for ones time. This is when help can take your average lawn and make it exceptional. Lawn care doesnt have to cost a lot of money. For a more reasonable rate negotiate a long term contract with your gardener, for bi weekly visits. The longer commitment should lower the rate you have to pay per visit. Clark Covington provides landscaping tips and information on lawn care and lawn mowers for Savvy Cafe. Nokia N95 - First Look

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Adam_Jaylin]Adam Jaylin There is a lot of Hullabaloo about the next 'big thing' by Nokia that is being witnessed in the mobile phone market around the world. The buzz is about Nokia N95 that is certainly going to place itself in the Numero Uno position amongst other mobile phones. But it has just been officially announced and not been released as yet. And it is reportedly expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2007. I am not deliberately trying to add superlatives to describe the Nokia N95. But I am compelled to do so, considering its specifications which have recently been made public by the manufacturers. The device looks good to look at with its 2.6 inch wide screen and slider design. Talking of its features, it is a 3.5 G (HSDPA) capable device that works on Quad-Band GSM that works all around Europe and America. Features like GPRS, EDGE, Infrared, WLAN and Bluetooth are catalytic in enhancing the connectivity of this mobile phone. With the presence of technologies like HSDPA and inbuilt Wi-Fi, this gadget promises the best Internet connectivity, irrespective of where you are! Nokia N95 is a Smart Phone that runs on Symbian series 60 (3rd edition) operating system. The camera in this device is 5 Mega Pixels that is perhaps the best camera phone that Nokia ever released. The icing on the cake is the Carl Zeiss optic lens of this camera. With auto focus and flash, Nokia N95 can become any photographer's delight. This camera can also record DVD quality videos at 30 FPS that you can directly view on your television screen by using its TV out feature. Further, there is a secondary VGA resolution camera that is meant for the purpose of video calling in this device. Nokia N95 has an interesting inclusion of the GPS feature that can provide mapping of the various locations. Nokia N95 is installed with Map applications that covers over 100 countries. The music player in Nokia N95 is impressive as it has the ability to play music in MP3/AAC/AAC+/eAAC+/WMA file formats. As far as the memory of this mobile phone is concerned, it has a 160 MB of internal memory and the user will be provided with 128 MB memory card with its retail pack. And if that isn't enough, then you can expand its memory with the help of hotswap memory cards. There is also the provision of stereo FM radio in this device. As an ideal business companion, this mobile phone also enables you to read and open your MS office documents on the handset itself. If you forgot, then this mobile phone also makes phone calls. With a talk time of up to 6 hours 30 minutes and the stand by time up to 220 hours, [http://www.ukonlinemarket.co.uk/mobile/Phone_Deal.asp?Ph=Nokia--N95]Nokia N95 looks fairly impressive in terms of battery life. However, I am still waiting for its arrival so that we all can get a fair glimpse of the exact specs of N95. Till then, all we can do is to admire this mobile phone and anticipate its arrival! Lose Weight - Fast Diet Plan

By Apiwat Songworn Get ready to lose 10 pounds! By paying attention to the amount of food you eat, eliminating unnecessary sugar and fat from your foods and making sure you include absolutely delicious meals and snacks to keep your taste buds happy. Use this easy-to-follow and super healthy diet plan to lose the first 10, the last 10, or any 10 in between! Because it's a balanced and flexible program, you can stay on this diet as long as it takes. Top Fast Secrets * Keep track of everything you eat and drink. No need to estimate calories - just write down the type of food or beverage and the amount. * Cut your fat intake in half, that means half as much margarine or butter on toast, vegetables and your muffin, half the mayonnaise on your sandwich, and half the oil in the pan when you saute foods. You get the idea! * Limit the sugar treats to three times per week maximum. * Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt. * Eat at least one meatless lunch and dinner each week to reduce fat, increase fiber, and get yourself into the habit of building meals around whole grains, beans and vegetables. * If you're not currently using skim milk, go down to the level of fat content in the milk you use. For example, if you currently use two percent, use only one percent. If you insist on whole milk, try two percent. * Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season.
* Instead of fruit juice for breakfast or snack, drink water. Add a slice of lemon or lime for zest. * Include two servings of vegetables with lunch and dinner, for a total of at least four servings per day. * Choose one to two servings of foods made from whole grains with every meal. * Shut off the TV whenever you eat - that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories! * Choose calories you can chew - that means only calorie-free beverages (except for milk) Sodas are loaded with empty calories, and fruit juices provide less fiber and vitamins per calorie than the fruit they're made from. * Plan ahead for meals and snacks so you know exactly what you plan to eat. Last-minute choice tends to be higher in calories and lower in satisfaction. Healing Your Self Through Forgiving Your Spouse

By Jean MacKenzie Although the person whom it may be most important to forgive may be your spouse, your spouse can often times be the hardest person in your life to forgive. The intimate nature of marriage makes spouses vulnerable to each other. A spouse who knows you better than any other person has the most ability to offend you. And, because you share a life together your spouse also has the most opportunity to be a repeat offender. When the person you are supposed to be closest to refuses to see how his or her actions hurt you or if they continue to hurt you in the same manner over and over again it can seem that forgiveness is impossible. There is no doubt that forgiveness under these circumstances can be very difficult. However, clearing up some common misunderstandings about forgiveness may help the process along a little. One of the misconceptions implied by a lack of forgiveness when a spouse is not willing to apologize is that if you forgive your spouse you are somehow doing them a favour. You may be doing your spouse a favour in terms of strengthening your relationship together in the long run and if that is a bad thing you may not want to practice forgiveness. However, forgiveness certainly does not mean admitting that your spouse didnt hurt you or saying that what he or she did was OK. And, forgiveness definitely doesnt mean you have to let your spouse continue to hurt you. In fact, if you are in a situation of abuse, you should take steps to insure your safety right away. In other instances forgiveness may free up enough energy to deal with the cause of the hurt in a more constructive manner. It takes a lot of energy to be angry with someone and one thing people dont often realize is that forgiveness is primarily something you do for yourself. You will not help your spouse realize the error of his or her ways by holding onto angry feelings. You only create tension and anxiety for yourself, which can lead to innumerable mental, emotional, and even physical problems, which in turn add further strain to your relationships. It is true; the only person you can change is yourself. However, when you make changes to better yourself you can inspire others to change as well. So, why not start by freeing yourself of the burden of angry feelings. Youll feel better and if as a side effect your relationship with your spouse improves youll win on two counts. The Mundane Toilet Brush! - Making the Right Choice

By David Andrew Smith We all have at least one toilet in our house or apartment and many of us have two or more. What should we find close to these toilets? A toilet brush. It is rare to find a toilet in a domestic setting that does not have one nearby. Why do we put so much value in a toilet brush? A toilet brush is a useful accessory and in fact an absolute necessity when it comes to the cleaning of the interior surfaces of the toilet bowl. There we have it, it is a simle, straightforward cleaning accessory, not a decorative item. It is a brush because it is required to scrub away at those resistant stubborn stains. However we live in times where individuals require that all their accessories fit in with each other and look aesthetically pleasing. Toilet brushes and their holders are no exception to this. Consequently they can be found in all manner of shapes, sizes, colours, and materials and the same applies to the holders. You can have wooden, plastic or metal handles. You can find holders that attach to the wall or are free standing. They can be found as scrubbing brushes with long handles to humorous celebrity look-alikes. Novelty toilet brushes abound in the market place. When deciding what toilet brush/holder you should get for your toilet consider its function and relate that to its design. It has a specific function and you have to decide if its design is best suited to carry out that function efficiently. Do not buy on impulse or because it looks good and would fit in decoratively. Let us take a closer look at its function. It is used to scrub away at the dirt and accumulated faecal debris, and when used with the correct cleaning chemical will stop lime scale built up. Lime scale, especially in those areas not so visible will allow dirt to built up because of its roughened surface. Where does all of this collect? Well it can e found any where on the inner surface of the bowl. Faecal matter tends to accumulate on the sides towards the base and below the water line on the whole of the curved inner surface disappearing finally around the bend. This area in particular can become very badly stained. The second and important site for dirt and debris accumulation is under the rim, from where the flush water appears. The brush should have its bristles orientated in such a way that it makes scrubbing under this rim easy. The handle should be firm but not completely rigid. If it is not firm then little pressure can be exerted in the brushing process because the handle simply bends. If it is completely rigid then you will not be able to get to all the surfaces at the base of the bowl. Avoid handles that are screwed on. Invariably in the brushing action these can unscrew and you will be continually screwing them back together. Metal handled ones are frequent offenders here. Do not purchase brushes that have guards on them that also act as lids to the holders. This attachment just gets in the way of correct brushing and will not allow the brush to reach all the parts that are necessary. Do not be unduly swayed by advertising, which indicates that toilet brushes are unhygienic and hot beds of disease causing organisms. If they are used in conjunction with a good toilet cleaner then anything harmful will be killed despite what the brush may look like. Unless of course it has been used to unblock the toilet in which case it becomes caked in large pieces of faecal matter. In these circumstances it is advisable to get rid of the brush and purchase a new one. As they are subjected to daily use their useful life is often short. So why pay a lot of money for a designer brush that you will soon be throwing out anyway. Some of the best brushes are the cheapest at no more than one pound each. At those prices you can afford to chuck them out at the first sign of wear or staining. At 20 you are going to be a little more reluctant to seek a replacement. The cheap simple brushes and holders do nothing to enhance the aesthetics of your toilet but invariably they do not detract from it either. Always think function before looks when buying toilet brushes! David Andrew Smith is the owner of http://wesparkle.co.uk and has worked for many years in the cleaning industry. There Is More to a Jewelry Store than Jewelry

By Christopher Weis So youre thinking about opening a jewelry store. Have you given some thought to all of the elements that go into your plan? If youve only thought as far as the jewelry and the building, youre just getting started. There are literally hundreds of components that go into creating a successful, customer-friendly jewelry store. The three most vital things to be considered are packaging, display options and security. If you arent prepared for it, it is easy to get overwhelmed when faced with the task of assembling your store. Here are a few things to consider as you begin planning: Packaging: You can have the finest diamonds in the world. But what is the customer going to carry them home in? The jewelry box is one of the most recognizable trademarks of the industry. And youre going to need a lot of them. Your best bet will be to buy wholesale jewelry boxes in the most common shapes and styles, so that youre prepared for anything. If you are trying to establish your brand, you can have your wholesale jewelry boxes custom printed to fit your name and logo. You can also buy jewelry boxes in a wide variety of colors to fit the scheme of your business. A uniform line of wholesale jewelry boxes will go a long way towards building a professional image in the mind of your customers. Display: Jewelry display cases are second only to a quality product when it comes to factors affecting a successful sale. Part of the attraction to a particular piece is the way it is presented. Choosing which jewelry display cases are right for your store will depend largely on the amount of room that you have to work with. If you have the room, it is always best to go with a setup that allows the customer to view all of the jewelry at the same level. Most mall stores have their jewelry display cases lined up in such a way. If space is an issue, a vertical 360 jewelry display case is another attractive option. The 360 display case will conserve space, add depth to a room, and allow your jewelry to shine from all angles. You can even get L-shaped jewelry display cases to turn a corner when necessary. The most important thing is that you pick your display case based on the space you have available. Security: One of the most important components of operating a successful jewelry store is an effective security system. And that starts with security cameras. A real or fake security camera can go a long way to deterring theft and burglary. Installing even a fake security camera sends a message to would-be criminals that their actions are being watched closely. If you can, a series of real security cameras is your best option. But you can also mix and match a few fake security cameras along with your real system. Just make sure the real security cameras are installed in the areas of most concern. Of course in the jewelry industry, security goes beyond the cameras. It would also be a good idea to install a door entry chime to alert your staff when a customer enters the store. You can cover a greater range with your security cameras if they are behind a mirrored globe in the ceiling. It is hard to avoid a camera when you arent sure which direction it is pointing. Jewelry store owners would also be well advised to install some sort of alarm system to deter after-hours theft. All of this information is still just a starting point when it comes to setting up your store. But considering all of the variables up front will save you a lot of headaches down the line. Weight Loss-A Problem For The Ages

By Patricia Zelkovsky Today, more than ever before, obesity has become a major health problem for children and adults. Thumbing through any of the glamour magazines, you will always find weight loss tips on the proper way to diet and exercise. In contrast, the images you see on television tell a different story. Weight loss: a problem for the ages can be resolved by considering the following dietary regimens. Our bodies are unique in that every one of us is built differently; have different bone structures. Weight gain is a genetic and behavioral trait. To lose weight, the process can neither be fast, convenient nor free. It takes dedication; commitment; and a willingness to expend a certain amount of money depending upon the diet plan chosen. In an effort to reduce weight properly, one should shed those pounds as slowly as possible; preferably one to two pounds per week. Exercise is another key ingredient in losing weight. Perhaps you have been a couch potato for a number of years. If that is the case, start slowly with walks around your block. Try and walk 20 minutes every other day in one week; and longer the next. Eventually you will be able to work up to a mile or more. Ask a friend to walk with you; or take your walkman music always puts you in the groove to move! Perhaps youd like to enroll in an exercise program at a gym. Most of them always have a two for one special; ask a friend to go with you. Yoga and other forms of mediation is another resource you can use. When stressed or depressed, you tend to eat more. Finding a balance within will allow you to nurture your body and lose weight in a more positive and effective way. In addition, you will sleep more comfortably and be fully prepared for the next day, without having that sluggish feeling in the morning. Another method to achieve weight loss is to eat smaller portions. Use a smaller dish when having dinner. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Instead of having lunch out every day, prepare lunch at home using the more healthy varieties of foods available. Cut down on late night snacks; if you are hungry, eat a bowl of cereal. That always works! On the weekends, you can treat yourself to a sweet dessert; for a job well done during the week. Instant weight loss is a misnomer. While everyone promises to have discovered the weight loss miracle diet of all time, you must come to the realization at some point that nothing but hard work and discipline are the only two miracles you need. Weight loss is a problem for the ages; all ages! Produce More Sales from your Email Promotions - Part 2

By Judy Cullins Do sales come from your ezine regularly? How many well-written articles do you submit per week to Online ezines? How often do you send thank you's and follow up messages to your different email groups?
If you answered not many, then you need to re-evaluate. The answer to online success is the same as traditional success--promotion, promotion, promotion.
Use these easy ways to boost online credibility and sales:
3. Send Follow up Messages to your Customers, Subscribers and Customers
Do you keep email lists by category such as subscribers, potential clients, customers, or teleclass participants?
Talking with many small business people, I discovered many only keep one list, primarily subscribers. While giving my subscribers information once a month, I make it a point to connect with many other groups. Each month or so, I send them some free information, sometimes with a sales message, sometimes not.
How often do you follow up?
The people who hear from you over time develop trust in you. Once they trust you, they are more likely to buy from you than new contacts.
Keep a file of your loyal customers, your potential clients, your subscribers, your teleclass participants, and ePublishers.
To each of these, send a different, targeted follow up email. Send a "thank you" message offering a freebie. To my loyal customers I offered a free question answered by email.
In the same email, I followed with "Ways to Benefit and Succeed with the Book Coach." These included a free subscription to my ezine, a free teleclass on book writing and promotion, or an introductory coaching price. It's best to make one offer at a time.
Recycle those articles you post online. Give them away as free reports to your potential clients. No cost to you and they take very little time. When a publisher asks me for a longer article, it's easy because I have several versions of each article I write.
Put your online promotion groups in a buying mode. Make an irresistible offer that is real. Give them one or two free bonus reports they want. Caution: It's a turn off when the free bonus reports are worth more than the major package being sold. I just noticed one--the book was $39.95--the free bonuses were supposedly worth $500. That certainly doesn't speak truth.
For an eBook of 30-75 pages packed with how-to's and resources, offer two free bonus reports taken from your article files or book excerpts. These can be 3-7 pages.
4. Display your product or service's benefits clearly.
What do you do when you see in the subject line "Book announcement" or "Book Signing" or "Teleclass Marathon?" What motivates you to want to open that email? Even targeted ezine subscribers are likely to only open 50% of your emails.
Why not give your email lists a reason to open more? Give your potential buyer a picture of how their life would look after using your expertise. Write ad copy that appeals to their emotions, so they feel they must buy now.
5. Place your signature file at the bottom of every email you send.
Entrepreneurs who are new to the Internet may just sign their name at the bottom of their email. It's time to learn that this signature file is your great sales force. Subtle, but effective, what you put into those 4-7 lines is so important. Include your name and title, then what you do for your audience. For instance, "Helps small business people manifest their book and Web dreams." Include one free offer, possibly your ezine. Name your ezine and sweeten the pot with another freebie such as a free report for new subscribers. Include your Web and email address and your local phone number, so people outside the U.S. can contact you easily.
Don't disappoint yourself by dropping the ball and not letting people know about you and your products and services. Your customers and clients are waiting for your message. Tips for Making Your Wedding Bouquets Last

By Amy Spade Because a lot of the wedding preparations start in the morning and go well into the afternoon, the flowers will need to be delivered well before the ceremony. If its a warm day, you might find you and your bridesmaids with wilted, dropping flowers. But dont worry; there are ways to avoid this as well. Keeping it cool Most of the bouquets and other floral arrangements will come in either vases or small plastic bags of water. These are designed to keep them moist and pert until the start of the wedding. And while keeping them in these packages will help the most for keeping your flowers from wilting, there are other ways to spruce them up. If you should get flowers that arent as perky, then you can run the ends of the bouquets under cold water as you cut the ends at an angle. This will help to create new channels for the water to flow through. Place the bouquets back into their original water and they should become straighter and livelier within an hour or so. What you may read in some books is that you can use ice cubes in the water to help you make the flowers look better, but this only freezes the routes of water to the flower, and can cause even more harm to a sagging bouquet. If you decide to take outdoor pictures, they you can take the bouquets out of the water, dry them off with a paper towel and stand and pose. Once you are back inside, you will want to put the flowers back into the water once more, to make sure that they get the most amount of water they can before the ceremony. After the fact If youre looking to preserve your bouquet, here are a few tips. Although many florists can help you with preserving the brides bouquet, you can also do it yourself. One route is to hang the bouquet upside down as soon as you can after the wedding. This helps the flowers to keep their original shape as they air dry. The air drying process will take a while, so dont worry if youre still waiting on them to dry a month later. Another way to preserve bouquets is to spray them with hair spray immediately following the wedding and hang them upside down. This creates a sort of layer of protection around the petals and can shield the flowers from losing their original shape. Check List Before Going On a Date or a Night on the Town Looking for Romance

By Don Diebel I have put together a list of things you need to do just in case you bring a woman back to your place from a date or just some woman you pick up. Follow these guidelines so you will be prepared and make a good impression: Is your bed made up and do you have clean sheets and pillowcases? Make sure your toilet and bathtub are spotless. I can assure you they will look and if they are dirty they will be turned off. Put a fresh roll of toilet paper on. Have your fresh condoms ready and near your bed. If she spends the night, be sure to have something for her to eat for breakfast (bacon, eggs, and toast would be ideal). Turn the volume on your answering machine down. You don't want to be embarrassed if one of your girlfriends or ex-girlfriends calls and leaves an intimate message. If you have a dimmer switch for your lights, turn them down low before leaving. If you don't have a dimmer switch, install very low wattage light bulbs in your lights. This is to create a soft and romantic atmosphere when you have a woman over. If you have a fireplace, put some logs on or have a Duraflame log ready to light. This way everything is ready to light up when you bring a girl over. Be sure and use this great prop for creating an intimate seductive setting. I've seduced lots of single women with my fireplace. Have your soft and romantic music out and ready to put on after you hit the door with your date. Make sure your bar is stocked with liquor, wine, beer, and champagne so you can offer her a drink. Make sure your icebox is clean and does not smell (tip - have an open box of baking soda in there to help absorb odors). Trust me, single women notice little things like what your icebox looks like. Make sure you have something to snack on in case you decide to watch a movie or TV. Make sure your house or apartment is clean before you leave. Most single women are turned off by a dirty, unclean, and cluttered place. She may get the impression that you are a lazy slob. This is really important - Make sure you have on clean and fresh underwear with no holes. Take a look around and make sure there's nothing laying around in your closet or in your drawers that would indicate another woman has been around (women will peek in your closet and your drawers). Don't forget to bring your breath mints. It's a big turn-off to women if you have bad breath. I would also recommend having your candles and massage oil ready. You should always offer your date a massage as part of your seduction routine.

Are You Sad? Four Tools To Release The Winter Blues

By Brian Walsh What an appropriate acronym. It stands for Seasonal Affective Disorder. I used to live in the arctic. In winter, we didn't see the sun for many months. I am acutely aware of the winter blues and how people are affected emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Much has been written on the subject, so I would like to provide you with some supplemental information. Natural Light Research has demonstrated that exposure to natural light has a positive effect on human health, emotional well-being, and therefore learning. Some of the common symptoms of lack of natural light are fatigue, disturbed sleep patterns, appetite and weight disorders, depression, skin damage, and suppressed immune functions. During the short days of winter, a common problem is Seasonal Affective Disorder. The symptoms can be easily remedied through daily exposure to sunlight. Alternatively, Bright Light Therapy (phototherapy), using a minimum of ten thousand lux units for thirty minutes in the early morning, will often cure SAD. Just to put this into perspective, even the cloudiest day is rarely below ten thousand lux, and a sunny afternoon could be as much as one-hundred thousand lux. Do your own research to understand the current technology for Bright Light Therapy devices. The commonly-used fluorescent tubes, found in many offices and training facilities, have only narrow spectrum light, and they also emit a constant pulsing that can create stress and fatigue. A study of 750 classrooms ((21,000 students) in California, Washington, and Colorado found that students in classrooms with windows and skylights learned 20 to 26 percent faster than students in classrooms with the least natural light exposure. A Florida study of two first grade classrooms found that full-spectrum lighting reduced nervousness and hyperactivity. The students also improved their overall classroom performance. The Law Of Emotion A person can only have one set of emotions and feelings at a time. Stronger emotions and feelings replace weaker ones. Indifference or boredom can be substituted with appreciation or curiosity. Curiosity can then be replaced with excitement, which in turn can enable a high-energy learning state. Self-criticism can be substituted with a strong self-esteem. Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) is a way of modeling how successful people achieve their results. It gives us a wonderful set of tools and principles for enhancing the components of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-control, motivation, empathy, and social skills. The Love Factor Two parallel studies were conducted on young newborn rats sourced from the same supplier. All aspects of the experiments were identical, including their food. In one of the locations, Cambridge University in England, the rats were gaining weight and thriving. In the other location, Harvard University in the USA, the rats were experiencing less measurable growth.
The researchers were unable to rationalize the difference until they later discovered the one factor that made the difference. In order to clean the cages at Harvard, the maintenance staff moved the rats into other cages. At Cambridge, while some maintenance workers cleaned the cages, other workers held and stroked the rats. If TLC (tender loving care) can have that kind of effect on the physiology of rats, think what it can do for a human mind. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) EFT is one of the many techniques in the new field of Energy Psychology. It is in the branch known as meridian therapies. The technique removes negative emotions, reduces or eliminates pain, releases phobias, and assists in setting and implementing positive goals. EFT is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture, to treat emotional disorders. Focusing on the issue and stimulating the major neural pathways initiates a memory process causing change by unblocking the emotional short-circuit. This process results in substituting positive emotions for the negative emotions, which were previously learned and associated with the issue. The process initially requires the person to think about the event or issue. Simple tapping with the fingertips is used to input kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the hand, head, and chest. This combination of tapping the energy meridians and voicing specific phrases works to clear the emotional block from the body's bio-energetic system. This restores the mind and body's balance, which is essential for optimal learning and mental health. EFT can dramatically enhance intellectual performance simply by eliminating the emotional lids on our intellectual potential. Most SAD Goes Unnoticed. Most of us navigate through the winter totally oblivious to how poorly we are functioning. Those who evade SAD are regular outdoor exercisers and walkers. Many of us just feel a bit down, and turn to comfort food. The lethargy sets in and we pine for the spring. Be assertive. Releasing the winter blues is simpler than you think. Begin today. Get outside. International speaker, Dr. Brian E. Walsh, is the bestselling author of Unleashing Your Brilliance. For much of his 30-year corporate career he was involved in human resources, specifically training. While living in the arctic, Brian studied anthropology and Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), which prepared him for working with other cultures. He was then transferred to China where he served as his companys GM. After his return to Canada, he elected early retirement to further his earlier interest in NLP and hypnotherapy. He returned to formal study, and within four years had achieved his Ph.D. His dissertation, which focused on accelerated learning techniques, inspired his passion and his book, Unleashing Your Brilliance. Kids Just Wanna Have Fun!

By Cheryl Johnson During the recent schools out session, I was reminded how much the kids crave entertainment. No matter what time of year the Kids Just Wanna Have Fun. And who could blame them? I dont think there are many of us who havent longed for the carefree, playful days of our youth. I have four of these carefree fun hungry kids. Keeping them entertained on a tight budget is always a challenge. I have discovered over the years that more money doesnt necessarily mean more fun. In fact, some of the simplest, age old activities, seem to feed their fun hungry souls the best. Remember, in the old days that is the very old days. Family gatherings provided a great source of entertainment. It's hard to believe that in todays fast paced, high tech, world that children still enjoy this kind of interaction. I have found that for some reason, maybe because it validates their own behaviors, kids love to hear stories of when we were young. No, not the kind that remind them of how good they have it today. Im talking about our childhood antics, the times when we misbehaved, did something wrong, and the consequences. Most of us have funny moments in our life that just stick with us. Sometimes they werent so funny at the time at least from our prospective, then. My kids love to hear stories of my childhood antics, when I broke the rules, how I felt about it, and what punishment I had to endure because of it. They especially like the punishment part. Some sort of satisfaction knowing that I had to endure the cruelties of punishment also! Of course it doesnt sound amusing to talk about times when you got in trouble. But, those memories are funny to us now that we look back at our childhood. Sure we can laugh now Were a lot smarter and see the innocence of our ways. This is a great way to also remind ourselves that we were once kids also. And not so different than our own kids. With much the same innocence, gullibility, and scheming potential. Ahhhh a great tool for reminding us that at least some of the behaviors we frown on in our kids is just the normal age old process of growing up! A very reassuring thought when youre ready to pull your hair out. In some ways this ritual of reminiscing shows our children that we love them unconditionally. That we understand. Why, because weve been there, done that. And we acted in many ways , and felt in many ways , the same way they do today. Its true that some things never change. I have a shorter list of tales to tell being one of three siblings. My husband on the other hand is one of eleven children, and he can keep them in belly busting laughter for hours, leaving them begging for more. Telling not only his own antics but those of his brothers and sisters. So, if you ever find everyone sitting around looking bored to the gills, start up a casual conversation and work in some of your funny moments in life. Youll have them begging for more and more tales. Tell some more, tell some more! And the best part .. Its Free Entertainment! With a little research.what was that?..research? If youve been to visit http://www.simpledebtfreeliving.com you know this is one of my pet peeves.. If you dont know whats out there or if you dont know what youre looking for, youre doomed to spend too much of your hard earned money! There no disputing the fact that an Informed Consumer = More Savings! There! I said it again. Boy did that feel good. Well now that I got that off my chest let me share some ideas on this FUN thing. Roller skating- went once a week when I was a kid. Loved it! Guess what? My kids love it too! And its cheap if you do your research. Our local rink has a family night. Get this , $1 to get in $1 for skates if you need to rent. If you make this a regular outing, invest in the skates. Thats one of those birthday or Christmas gifts that will pay you back in the long run. My husband and I dont skate, those days are gone. Although I highly recommend it for a great workout. That means four kids can get in for $4. Three hours of fun for $4. You cant beat it! I could get us in for even less . . .only $2. We have a local grocery store that prints coupons on back of the receipts, one of the most frequent coupons I get .the local roller skating rink buy one entrance fee, get one free . I prefer not to use these for family night since my oldest daughter likes to go to the rink on teen night The rink socks it to them at $6 an entry. They know where the money is! This is a social event that many teens in the area just cant miss! This way she can get in free if she goes with a paying friend. Sometimes, just to be fair, we share the savings with her friends and each of them only has to pay $3. This way she doesnt feel like shes taking advantage of anyone. Bowling: this can be a great low cost avenue for FUN if you dont get carried away. Usually you have to pay by the game, per person. So set your limits and have fun. Most lanes have bumper guards now that prevent the little ones from excessive gutter ball blues It helps put the fun back in it for the very young children. A great feature. Even for the fumbling adult. Who am I kidding, I love those bumper guards!
Most alleys have a discount night. So, try to plan your activities so you can enjoy the benefits of the discounts. Just a Note: Both of the above businesses usually offer birthday party rates as well. If youre not into planning your own party at home (by far the most economical way) then consider checking out the party packages. Cookouts and Picnics: Cookouts dont have to be for special occasions. We have several wonderful parks in our area that sport wonderful playgrounds and scenic walking or biking trails. So take the boredom out of lunch one Saturday or Sunday afternoon and throw together a cookout or picnic at your local park. My kids just need to get out of the house sometimes. They dont really care where they go, as long as they go somewhere! Parks are a great resource for free fun! The internet is a great resource for finding new, different, and exciting parks in your area. Just do a simple search and you will probably be amazed at the numerous parks within driving distance from your home. So keep it interesting and travel a little bit to get to exciting new places! An extra bonus . . . . You will be making great memories for your kids!:) Museums and Historical Landmarks: Dont think you have any near you? Bet Ya do! Why even in the far out sticks of nowhere you might be surprised to find a museum within a reasonable distance. I am blessed to live in a highly cultural area between Washington DC and Baltimore. So museums, tourists attractions, and historic landmarks (yes many of them Free) are abundant. But, no matter where you live, do a little research (yes, again) and Ill bet youll find some interesting attraction or museum convenient to your home. If in a rare case you dont, then plan to visit an area on a weekend trip where you can enjoy these types of historic attractions. Family Game Night:- I know that many times after a hard days work we just want to sit, relax, and well, basically, do nothing! But, once you get in a habit of designating one night Family Game Night I guarantee youll look forward to it. This is a great way interact with your kids. Its fun, educational, and provides an opportunity for conversation (Now thats something those teens dont offer up much). Choose games that everyone enjoys and is capable of doing. Games that suit the familys entire age span are always more fun. And, there are many out there. If you have a large family with some large age differences, you can opt to have two game nights so you can include games suited for the younger children that the older ones might get bored with. Of course, always provide the option for older ones to be included. Sometimes, believe it or not, they just enjoy the quality time with parents and siblings. :) Well, I'm hoping these ideas will keep you busy for now! And remember, it doesn't have to cost alot to be alot of FUN! Cheryl Johnson is a mother of four helping herself and others become and stay debt free. Nine Must-Do Positioning Steps

By Henry DeVries Every professional or consultant knows that clients typically hire people they know, like and trust. But how do you build trust with strangers? As Ralph Waldo Emerson's 150-year-old essay titled "Compensation" teaches, first you must give if you want to receive. The best positioning strategy for professional service firms is to build trust by giving away valuable information. That's why professional service firm marketing works best when it demonstrates expertise by educating prospects, not asserting superiority through flashy brochures and Web sites. Based on best practices research, here are 10 must-do positioning steps every professional service firm and technology service should take. 1. Identify the target market. Find a potential market niche that will be profitable. In today's market, clients demand specialists. You want fewer prospects to be interested in you, but you want them to be much more intensely interested. This requires focus. It doesn't mean you'll turn down a client who doesn't fit into your two or three chosen verticals -- it simply means you won't be actively shaping your marketing message toward them. Evaluate your business. Have you sold most of your products to golf-ball manufacturers, pet stores and electrical suppliers? Then those are the three places to start thinking. But if pet stores in general don't have the budget for your products, you'll need to look harder. 2. Make a promise. Determine what promise you or your firm is making to your target market. This includes your unique selling proposition: what you do, who you do it for and how you are unlike competitors -- all in 25 words or less. Are you willing to make a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee a part of that promise? You need to decide what makes you different from everybody else, and you need to overcome fear of focus -- the desire to want to be everything to everybody. People hire professionals who specialize. Very few people would hire a surgeon who says he can do everything from tonsillectomies to facelifts and open-heart procedures. When you're in pain, you want a specialist -- not just somebody who's "good with a knife." 3. Check your reflection. Take a fresh look at your logo, letterhead, business cards, office space, wardrobe -- anything tangible that a prospect could use as a basis for an early opinion about you. Design changes every few years. Take a hard look. Do your printed materials look like they're stuck in the disco era? This is where it pays to overspend. There are five attributes that clients use to judge professionals, and appealing tangibles heads the list. 4. Create an educational Web site. Create an easy-to-update, database-driven Web site that demonstrates your competence, rather than asserts how great you are. The Web site is the cornerstone of new marketing, and must not be a mere electronic brochure. Your Web site is the silent salesperson that prospective clients visit before making the decision to grant you permission to meet. We have information available on the most common blunders in Web design, and we share that with clients. 5. Determine proprietary process. Create a proprietary problem-solving process that you name and protect by obtaining a trademark. Your process must have a mysterious name that requires explanation. A proprietary process is not only a marketing asset that will allow you to charge more, but also will make your work less accidental and improve the quality of your service. 6. Conduct proprietary research. Conduct research that you own. Begin by choosing the three biggest problems your target clients face that your service can solve. What clients want to know most is how they stack up to their competition. Your specific answers will command client and media attention. 7. Create white papers or how-to articles. Write articles on how clients can solve their biggest problems. In essence, you are giving your insights away for free. These are used on the Web site and in the lead generation efforts. You need to give away information on how to solve problems in general so clients will trust you enough to hire you to solve their specific problems. 8. Create an image folder. Create an image folder that will not go out of date for a minimum of five years. The folder needs to be appealing and should contain as few words as possible. There are several techniques to ensure the folder has a long and useful shelf life, like not printing photos of people (fashions change) and phone numbers (so do area codes). Next, create the adaptable contents for the folder. You may choose up to three target markets, and need materials to adapt to each one. This allows you to project an image of a specialist with a specific process for each target client base. 9. Create a PDF of tips brochure. Avoid printing a brochure if at all possible; instead create an electronic version that can be read by anyone with an e-mail address and free Adobe Acrobat software. You can post the brochure on your Web site, e-mail it to clients and even use your own laser printer to create print-on-demand versions for Internet-averse potential clients. As to the content, think guidebooks with tips rather than the traditional puff pieces. Henry DeVries is a marketing coach and writer specializing in lead generation for professional service firms.
